Injury can effect you in many ways including decreasing your strength, muscle memory, timing, and endurance to name a few.
One big thing that I see is a disconnect between the mind and body.
Your mind tells you that you are back and you can go 100%, but your body is not exactly quite at that point and not conditioned quite yet.
Setting tangible goals, sticking to the goals, regaining that timing and mind-body connection is extremely important.
In the return from injury, listen to your body, adjust accordingly, and make a gradual transition to return to 100% and prevent re-injury.

been out 3 weeks 5 more to go and freaking out!! miss rolling sooo much...I keep going to watch class to keep motivated to rehab

I damaged my meniscus 4 years ago. I had surgery and went back to training, but I was so afraid of having another knee injury that I quit after a few months. Now I only do functional training but I miss BJJ so much. I am very serious about going back (again) but it's been almost 4 years and I don't know how to do it. I'm 40, purple belt, and feel like starting from scratch.

I started in Jan 2019, and got injured in March 2020. Tore my Bicep completely off the bone and had surgery. Just got back a few weeks ago, and the anxiety is at extreme levels.

I made the big mistake of coming back from a lay-off specifically to just do the technique portion of class and not rolling... but I went along with the rolling portion of class. I didn’t have to, another guy was sitting out I could’ve sat out with him. But I agreed to train with a spazzy young guy, and it totally killed my motivation to train again because it was so unpleasant. My advice is to come back slowly and don’t roll until you’re comfortable, and start with safe people who are actually aware. I wish I thought like this before I came back lol.

i needed this rn, on week 3 of a ligament injury in my wrist, tried to roll the other day and i just couldn't physically or mentally get into it

@@TheJiuJitsuTherapist Still feeling pain, having to make the adjustments to my game, people who I usually dominate getting one up on me or even just the thought of being out for 3 weeks knowing everyone else putting in the work while i was out.
