I recently went through the process of purchasing a rooftop tent, and I thought I'd share my experience with you all. For the past two years, I've been using a Roam Vagabond Lite RTT, which was great, but it had its drawbacks. Setting it up and tearing it down took forever, and it consumed a lot of roof space, making it difficult to incorporate other accessories like solar panels and storage boxes. As a result, I found myself dreading the setup process and camping less frequently.
I began exploring wedge-style tents as an alternative, but I was discouraged by the steep prices of reputable brands, with most starting at around $3500. Being hesitant to invest such a significant amount without assurance of quality, I looked into a lot of budget options which seemed promising with their positive reviews.
That's when I stumbled upon the TopBee/naturenest rooftop tents. With only a few reviews and limited video content available, I was initially hesitant. However, the price point of $1200 and free returns was hard to argue. After some contemplation (and perhaps a couple of beers), I decided to take the plunge. Amazon's return policy offered reassurance in case things didn't work out.
To my surprise, the tent arrived promptly and was impressively packaged. Upon inspection, I couldn't distinguish it from higher-priced models I had seen at exhibitions or owned by friends. The build quality was solid, with no signs of poor craftsmanship. Even the material felt comparable, if not better, than my previous rooftop tent.
In conclusion, if you're in the market for a new tent, I urge you to consider supporting smaller companies like this one. Affordable yet high-quality options like the TopBee/naturenest tent make outdoor adventures more accessible to everyone, regardless of budget constraints.
