I’m a native English speaker and use the phrase ‘I’m fine thank you and you’ all the time. It’s definitely normal here in England and not wrong but this lady is giving you some nice alternatives. Most people don’t want an in-depth answer or conversation unless you are friends.

Im American and I never say the thank you part, I just say “Good, How you?” In America how are you while standing and walking is kind of like Hello they don’t really care how your doing, if we are sitting down with someone we are close with then it’s ok to give a real answer.
@MaverickTsuki
@MaverickTsuki 2 жыл бұрын
In some countries british english is more prominent in language courses and schools than the american english. Now if we add most of the things we watch in media are usually from USA, some learners have a weird mix of both dialects. Personally it took me a while to learn some alternatives to the "i'm fine, thank you" thing and still feels kinda weird to say "im doing great" because of how teachers only give you that as the default response since one starts learning the language, lol
@blakejames9743
@blakejames9743 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same. We use that phrase all the time, to say native speakers don't is disingenuous. The alternatives sound nice, but it's just another way of saying the same thing, but packaged in a nice bow. You can use either and people here will get what you mean, and If you encounter any issues when using either, it's not you, it's the person you're engaging.

The response "I'm fine. Thank you, an you?" Is totally fine. It's polite. I'm a native English speaker and when "how are you?" Is asked, the one who asked is just being polite by acknowledging that you are existing in the same space and time. Do not give a long, indepth answer, it's rude. If you are very close with the person, then you can give a real answer. But if your boss asks, just say "fine and you?" All of the examples given in this video are for when you're close with the person. Not for a regular encounter with a boss, co-worker, etc.

I like “ I’m well. ” I think it depends on the level of relationship as well. Some people actually want to know how you are mentally and physically. I do wish this level of socializing was normalized it may help a person just to talk about it for a second.

So i have bad news and also good news for us the people out there who have no idea what this reality is all really all about if you can see??? The bad news this reality is not sustainable and it will end and must end. You want to know why?? Ok i gonna tell ya! You have a good you within your host body that faces up towards a STAR and a bad you that faces down towards the Pit, they bound together in your host body. You are in conflict with yourself and the war is within you, you are your own worst enemy, the one that faces down is trying to destroy. Think back to your life and you will see it! Its a Cannabalistic system, Remember Cain Killed Able, that is where the word Cannable comes from, The Oroborus is the Snake eating its own tail. When the energy is consumed it will end and that time is Nai. Satans energy is FEMALE, God's Energy is MALE, Satan created Male and Female not God, The Flesh is Satan the Spirit is God, they are in conflict with each other. The good news if you realize what i just said you can take the LEAP to REDEEM yourself. Jesus Christ came down here took a HOST body to SAVE us kind like a get out of Jail free card. Remember Satan owns the title deed to this reality which is the Flesh so to pay for it God had to take a Host body and decided to pay that price for us! Thank you God we really really appreciate that! So what do we need to do to turn our EYE back to be redeemed. Its ver SIMPLE admit that you are living the SIN and admit this in front of God and you will be redeemed. This will in turn release you from the bond to your host body and your EYE will be SINGLE and your body filled with LIGHT. There will no longer be the bad you only Good Once you have this you will see the kingdom and be reborn back into it where you came from. We are the Aliens here we were all Angels in heaven and the Stars are the Angels this is what Satan has been hiding from us. Remember God and Jesus which are one and the same are the TRUTH and Satan is Lies, Deceit, and it hides the truth from us so that it can accomplish its GOAL. And what is Satan goal???? It wants your SOUL, we are being hunted. If you choose the Double DOWN, then you will remain in Satans world and or if you took the vaccine you have already signed yourself over to your new Master which is Satan. In Satans world there will no longer be free will. The price you pay for not paying attention and thinking Conspiracies are a THEORY. Where there is SMOKE there is FIRE! The Vaccine has a substance called Graphine in it as well as Nano Technology. This will not allow you to redeem yourself and you will remain in Satans world and the Rabbit hole goes much deeper if you remain. Because you are no longer capable of making decisions for yourself Satan now has to make those for you, good luck with that. These are the facts that we are faced with, you choose up or down?? www.kleckfiles.com for detailed evidence, proof, facts! I Love the Truth my best Buddy never let me down!

Your video was recommended to me & after watching your video, I realized we can be quite lazy in speaking to each other. Like how others are commenting that we don’t really have the time for a drawn out answer but have we really become “so busy” we don’t have time for others? As a native speaker, I love how u teach (u clearly have a passion for helping ppl learn) & u gave me phases I’m going to insert in my everyday speak hoping to add more life in how we speak with others. People are so lonely & a little good communication goes a long way. Thanks Teacher Tiffany! ☺️

It depends on who are you talking to, if you are being greeted by close friends you just can go with the flow of a friendly and easygoing conversation, if you are being greeted in a work environment you just can limit yourself to answer "i'm great, how about you", just to correspond the greeting in a polite way, being polite and friendly doesn't do any harm to anyone. :)

I know, but seems really crazy, because we don't think like this when we speak Russian. We can think smth like "ok, I won't tell much because we aren't close friends", but it's really possible to say smth bad or good. It seems really "businesslike". Lol. A real conversation becomes meaningless and polite. What for to talk, to be polite? So it would be nice just to say smth like "hello, I hope you are doing well". :)

I usually say, “I’m great. What about you?” 😂 In the south people say, “could be better and you?” I’m a native speaker as well. The only response that’s wrong imo is when you’re asked and you start talking about ALL of your life issues. Just say you’re making it or something. You’ll let whoever is asking know that it’s rough right now but you’re okay. If the person asks more questions about that then they are letting you know that they are interested in what’s going on with you.

Tiffany's claims in this video are delusional. Native speakers of English respond "I'm fine" or "I'm good" or "not too bad" or "can't complain", something like that followed by "How are you" or "And you"? Keep it short and abrupt. This is a formulaic greeter, not a conversation starter. i don't know what planet Tiffany lives on.

I always say, “fine, thank you.” I’m a native English speaker. 90% of the time, people say, “How are you?” (or some variation) while walking by, so there is no time for another question. If a close friend asks how I am and isn’t walking away, I would give a more genuine response and keep the conversation going.

I agree. As an American, native English speaker, I have been using that response and question, "I'm fine, thank you. And you?" for decades. No one is confused by it, and it is understood that the question "and you?" is meant as a courtesy question without the expectation of a detailed reply to it. Any reply given would also be a quick, courtesy response such as "I'm fine, too" or "I'm okay" or "good!"

I'm also a native English speaker. It depends on the situation and the depth of conversation you are both seeking. If it is a pleasantry said in passing, "I'm fine, thank you, and you?" is perfectly, absolutely fine. If you're going to chat a few moments or longer, an alternative might be in order. Is it a formal encounter, or is it just a flash meeting? Pleasantness is what matters, not jargon.

When you are going through difficult times in your life, don't isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don't push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don't know if there's a way out is dangerous and that's why we have suicide cases. Listen, there's nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.

Exactly! If people provide alternatives, fine. Life is naturally full of variety. But don't say that native speakers don't say it when we actually do. Not hating on this vid, just disagreeing with the title.

You're a great teacher! Lived and studied in NYC for several years and loved every moment. Came back to my country, went to the university, got a degree ad also taught in high school. I observed that you may know a lot, hold many degrees but when it comes to teaching you've to have that "special connection " with your students! That's exactly what you have! More so when it's virtual!! AMAZING!! Love everything about you! Mind you, when I think I do it in english! Language learning is mind blowing and I must recognize I have a natural tendency to pick up foreign languages easily! Thank you for being the way you are and sharing your useful tips!! I'll follow you from now on!
