I wouldn't say "easy." Just to change the rules a bit. For example, Willow's lighter helps for getting a light source in a pinch, but her tendency to start random fires when her sanity is low is not very good for resources... Wickerbottom's knowledge of how to make Science Machine stuff is balanced out with her Insomnia and refusal to eat spoiled foods.

Wilson's had a special power since day one. His beard. As time passes that mound of fur grows on to his face, keeps him heated during the winter, can be buzzed off and used to make Meat Effigies, which can resurrect you after death, and looks stylish as all hell. He's unique and badass in his own special way and, in my opinion, the ability to craft Meat Effigies without having to go insane and kill Beardlings is a far better perk than any of the other character's advantages.

I think Maxwell should be able to sometimes not get hit by Charlie, and Wilson is the default. He's got the beard. (And dat sexy hair)

TheKeller101 id go with the spider guy Webber as my favorite. The mechanic of being able to command spiders is great because they don't hurt you anymore. It helps with exploration but for that, I'd go with WX-78, because if he encounters any chess biomes and kills some clockwork chesspieces, then he can upgrade his stats. Speaking of which, Webber has terrible sanity so it's rather easy to encounter Shadow monsters.

I like Wilson the most, he has no downsides. Willow is my second favorite, her lighter is pretty OP, but the lighting random fires when low on sanity thing sucks. When willow burns down your base due to it, you just sit there with that "seriously" face for a few minutes.

Mallow _ I know, Willow's downside is really annoying, however I was talking about their appearance; in terms of gameplay, I prefer Wilson and Willow too. Wickerbottom isn't that bad, but she has a lot of downsides, and her advantage are only her books.

Yes, I am fully aware of Wilson's epically magnificent beard, thank you very much; I'm just saying that ALL of the characters had perks before this update (well, you know, apart from Wes), and now they're all practically OP (again, apart from Wes) while Wilson still has the ONE perk, even if his perk IS magnificent. He deserves to have another perk even MORE than anyone else. Ehh, never mind…I know I'm not the easiest person to understand, so don't even bother trying…

Wilson's beard provides extra warmth during the winter, and is used to make Meat Effigies. And yeah I agree with Daoyi; Wilson is more or less the Jack of all Trades here.

Heey! Wilson has a magical beard! It grows too fast and keeps Wilson warm in winter! So HE SHOULD be here! By the way... where is Wigfrid? OR WEBBER?! Wigfrid is REALLY good at fighting and it gives her sanity. Webber if half-spider... I wish he could build something from coweb... =(

Wilson's beard wasn't a significant part of the update. And Wigfrid and Webber are both in the RoG DLC which wasn't released at the time of this update.

Wilson is the best all around character due to his beard based survival But what about wx, it can't die to the cold when it's overcharged No Wilson can gain a MASSIVE 5-15 sanity when he shaves his beard What about woodie and maxwell, woodie gains the "massive" 5 sanity per pinecone placed and maxwell has an infinite sanity regain That's why maxwell is the 2nd best because being insane is very bad and you should always wear a garland even if you are fighting What about the amazing item that insanity gives you, nightmare fuel No, that's a rare item and it has a high chance of death What about the strongest weapon in the game, the dark sword That is a rare Item that should only be used on the strongest of mobs What about wicker, she has 5 books that can give you a fresh harvest, summon a mountain of birds, recreate Japanese anime, put things to sleep and be zues for a few seconds Wicker is a horrible character, she can't sleep, has many things already prototyped and she hates spoiled food But sleeping can waste a lot of time and resources, and she is literally a the Einstein of all the characters, yes spoiled foods can be annoying but it is easy to get a lot of food But she doesn't have insulation OK GO PLAY YOUR PERFECT WILSON AND YOU CAN DIE ONCE DRAGONFLY SPAWNS!

necro; i like wilson too and prefer not to stay insane but nm swords are very useful because nightmare fuel isn't rare after just doing a bit of insanity grinding or going to the ruins at nightmare phase

Yep. It's been implied that Maxwell's orginal name started with w, and the reason Abigail is dead is because her named didn't start with w.

For those asking, there were Maxwell changes planned. But they were not finished in time for the update, according to Kevin (One of the game devs). Maxwell changes will have to be in another update.

Wilson has: Heat bonus with his beard in winter and is the only character that can get Beardhair without going insane. So Wilson is the best character in the game. He can get Meat effigy very early in the game, decreasing the chance of your death.

If you mean the character shown at the chopping trees and looks like a lumberjack that is woodie. He is a character that has been floating around for quite a while now and he finally got realeased.

The beard growth is Wilson's trait. It's all he needed. It keeps you warm in winter, you have easy access to beard hair and shaving is a nice little sanity boost.
