You know, to combat that cycle, you can wear the bee queen crown and it will turn that insanity of -900 per minute into sanity +450 per minute (not even including shadow monster insanity) making insanity a thing of the past. Bee Queen also isn't absurdly hard to kill (not as bad as Toadstool), just barrage it with blow darts and boomerangs which are easy to make with a good Wickerbottom in the swamp/base during winter and Wigfrid in the desert for hounds, and if you are at the stage of using ancient science tab items, It can be a smart idea to place walls around the station. Physical shadow monsters cannot pass through walls, however those that are not manifested yet (due to low sanity, not nightmare lights) can. But more than likely, the shadows you'll encounter in the ruins are going to be physically real, which can blocked by most obstacles.

Gems are destroyed by the Deconstruction Staff? Was it always like this? I recall reading it could be used to recover gems? Also the percentage thing also sounds new. I thought it's main use was to remake the Pan Flute over and over? Since when was this changed?
