One of those cimmercials that gets to stick in your head, because it uses a superb backing track. Plus that great visual effect...Blew our 1980's minds. 8-)

@@lucylocket4740 I’d say about 1983, judging that “The Message” came out the previous year, and the yellow mk2 Cav with the Y Reg.

Scarily, still relevant today. Maybe someone will read this on their phone seconds before stepping into the road.

Just heard this backing track with some new rapping over it on the radio, tried to tell the younger team about this advert but they just looked at me weird, glad I’ve found it so I can show them what I was in about.😁

This is the first place I heard that song, ha ha :-) This is actually fantastic for its time (early-to-mid 80s IIRC), only the rather out-of-place final voiceover is more typical of the era. I bet some enthusiastic young guy came up with the idea for this advert and after lots of cajoling his stuffy older bosses eventually let him go ahead with it, but only after insisting he include the final voiceover to drive the point home in case the kiddies didn't get all that newfangled rap stuff. :-)

Judging by the quality, and the tune of the song shifting pitches slightly, this could maybe have been shown in cinemas.
@NotATube
@NotATube 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean about the pitch, but this was shown on TV during the 80s as a public service announcement. (Possible it might have been shown at the cinema, particularly if it was made on film, but I didn't see it there personally).

@@NotATube by pitch, you might encounter it going up and down slightly, light a decayed 16mm film reel.
@NotATube
@NotATube 3 жыл бұрын
@@chryneon6638 I don't hear that personally. Perhaps you're confusing that with the pitch-bend and effects that are an intentional part of the music itself? Even if the ad itself was originally made on film (which it probably was), this transfer most likely comes from a videocassette TV recording made during the 1980s (when the ad itself was new), so any subsequent degradation is likely to be video not film related (i.e. due to an old video cassette, digital compression, poor quality transfer etc.)

@@NotATube it is quite unnoticeable at first, but the more you listen to it, the more major the difference is. It’s just with age, considering that if this was shot on film, then the sound would go like the AIMS Media logo.
