People like Richard are so extreme in their child hating. I’ve never wanted kids, but I love kids. I find his hatred and disgust for children very bizarre. There’s nothing wrong with not wanting kids. But there is something wrong with an adult insulting and being hateful towards children.

That being said, Richard did nothing in those clips to get channel strikes. Yes, it’s vile and creepy. But he didn’t deserve to have his channel struck for it.

I always say I hate kids but mostly as a joke lmao bc people never believe me when I say I don’t want kids or think I will change my mind so I always resort to saying I hate kids for them to understand I really don’t want them 💀 but I feel like for richard that type of hate can only come from some place deeper, like he has some type of unresolved childhood trauma that he really needs to reflect on, I feel he didn’t like his own childhood

@@helens.undead666 I have children. I was the youngest in a family with two kids and was extremely uncomfortable around children and I really felt I didn't like them. No experience with kids, simply. Obviously my perspective has changed now, but ... I so wish people would stop asking why someone doesn't have children, or will they have children or when will you, do they have children??? Leave people alone. If they have kids you will notice. If they don't they don't and why is their business. If they want to bring it up or if they are asking for your opinion, then fine, but in all other cases, get another hobby.

@Abe Froman There are only rare instances when I ever feel the need to replyy. I don't care about any person in this video that got recommended by the algorithm. When you reply to a speculation/hypothesis about someone's behaviour with "boo hoo he is a lazy unemployable POS" you are taking an anti-science stand and you imply relativising of human crimes. The way science, philosophy, history or basically any humancentric field (but also literally anything else too) in society look at things (at least in our day and age with our modern understanding of things), is that we try to understand a behaviour, phenomen or something else by unveiling it's mechanism or history. The origin. Also, by our current understanding, determinism is likely. There is no free will, only emergence in the brain which simulated an "ego" (according to consensus in neurobiology) and we are basically only a product of our genes, environment and culture. That's a generalization fallacy though and also a bit ignorant, so I'm not really saying that. There is more. It's complicated. But your statement is very simple-minded. Because it insults the user Ruth E. who just expressed their opinion/understanding and you also indirectly insult anyone that tries to help people or reduce crime. Because a mindset like that is what most of authority figures in science and politics try to reduce since decades. It's backwards and reactionary. You don't reduce white supremacy (for example!) when you just call people who adapted this belief a POS. That's the laziest reaction and way to handle that. And you personally also shouldn't really be emotional about random people doing random things. There will always be people you don't like or whom behaviour makes you angry. When you want to feel less anger about that, actively try to help others. Just expressing your anger helps neither you nor others. Greetings.
@bdarecords_
@bdarecords_ 2 жыл бұрын
@Abe Froman What a short way to say absolutely nothing of any value what so ever. :> But jokes aside, your reaction is very understandable. I do sympathize with you. You're a cool person. But beware that if you don't try to understand constructive criticism, you will eventually only hinder your own progress and growth. If you actually found my comments silly, you could've explained why. But I doubt that you thought so. The opposite actually: My comment made perfect sense for you, hence this exact "triggered" response. Needless to say, neither am I a child nor did I write "absolutely nothing". Quite the opposite: I explained you and the others, why your comment does not accomplish anything. It is perfectly fine to disagree, but my comment was meant for the thread, not you specifically. So if you want to call others "silly childs", go ahead and behave like an adult yourself. Just ignore these comments. Control your impulses. One should not debate to feel better or superior. In this respect, what you wrote was neither a fair analysis nor did it have substance. Randomly calling people names or insultung them without any context or further explanation is not very goal-orientated. And doing so as a reply to an insightful comment, directly insults the person (user Ruth) who wrote that comment. When I wrote that I did not mean this as an insult, I was serious. I am totally on your side here. When you learn that these kind of comments are not an effective way of expressing how you feel about certain persons or actions, you will also learn that this understanding can help not only you but also the people around you and it can actually prevent anger/suffering. And if we listen to people like Ruth we can indirectly reduce "lazy unemployed POS" and their "unwanted behaviour". This is how most succesful people approach topics and this is also how most interventions work, even things as simple as road signs.Thank you for understanding. And to add some value because this is what you're after: Trying to explain someone's behaviour is not judging or rating it. If profilers try to understand the motives of a serial killer, they do not approve or have sympathy but they still try to understand WHY people act and think a certain way. And there is also this big wall of subjective morality. I really did not mean you any harm when I replied. I thought you would benefit from this perspective. I would be happy if I had a strong and simple opinion and someone came and tole me "wait, there is more". Value is also a human construct and very subjective. How can you decide whether a common is of value? Seems odd to me. I hope this time you actually learned something and evaluate your behaviour and communication. That would be a win for both of us. Because when people confront you with evidence or logic that contradicts your position, you change it. If you don't, you are equal to a random person shouting random nonsense and why should anyone listen to you. Embrace different perspectives and disagreements. Don't shy away from critic. It will make you weak. Enjoy being wrong and learn. You are nice person and you deserve criticism :) Greetings.
@bdarecords_

@Abe Froman I still have sympathy for you. Your accusations and insults do not change that. You only make your own day worse that way. If you came back to this exact thread some years ago, you would certainly understand that your approach and answers are ignorant. But that is fine too. It's not like anyone should be mad at people for being in another situation. Neither the person you called an unemployed "POS" nor you. There are reasons why you act that way. But I will repeat myself: I can assure that none of my replies meant to harm you. If you interpreted them that way, that is on you.
@bdarecords_
@bdarecords_ 2 жыл бұрын
@Abe Froman Thank you for your concern. I really do appreciate that although I suspect you wrote that for a different reason which shows that you did not read or understand the previous comments. Words are goal-orientated. When we say "person x has a problem/there is something wrong with person x" we label it wrong to communicate either a problem that awaits to be cured or a threat. When you really (not rhetorically speaking) think there is something wrong with someone, do not mock that person (which goes even further back to the first comment when you labeled someone else "pos", interesting how we perceive ourselves and others, right?) Your comments were really interesting. My first comment controlled the way you would reply. No matter what I write now, you are in a certain "mode". This is really good anecdotal evidence for the Rosenthal-Effect. Thing is: I was expecting you would get the hint. There is always a perfect play when it comes to communicating messages but some people need really specific words and tones to change their attitude. The input decides the response (at least when the responding person can't filter informations properly and assigns emotion to logical arguments) But I don't mind. I actually think this discussion was really helpful for you and when I can help people that easily, why not. If it makes you happy to ignore everything I wrote and insult me like an angry child without manners: Go ahead. I really don't mind. I also enjoyed our conversation so far. :) It's like a puzzle game. You write short comments but there is so much to read bertween the lines and so much to see about how you think. btw offtopic: I don't really know what you mean by that "likes his own comment", maybe that's the language barrier. I would also not prefer when you use "him" to write about me. I use Yt on my mobile phone. I don't "like" any comment or video as far as I'm aware of. I will "like" your comment if that helps you. If you mean something else by that, I did not pick that up. Like as in likewise or "enjoying the comment"? I mean I'm not proud of random yt-comments. No not really. Probably even the opposite. Because this is a bad plattform for a good text and also a bad context for that. Anyway I used to be like you but when aging and experience comes, you will (hopefully) understand that being negative towards others and intentionally not trying to understand anything besides your own horizont will not lead you to success or satisfication. You will agree eventually so be like you are now and feel anger and arrogance but when you embrace that you will see yourself drown. You are already feeling insecure according to the usage of a third persona: You are looking for an audience to help you and confirm you that it's me who's wrong and childish. But there won't always be an audience. It's YOUR life. At first I just wanted to lecture you but I feel you really need someone to talk to now. We can chat on discord if you need help It will get better. If you don't want to continue our conversation, stop replying. When you reply you communicate that you want to continue. Because your answers do not contain any arguments so it seems you want to banter or mock. And if you benefit from that we can continue. greetings and best regards Abe.

Agreed, and misanthropy is a trait some high-profile vegans like Richard and Gary Yourofsky not only admit to but are proud of. I think that's more showcased by his fishing comments, and I fear more vegans than I would like to admit also hold such a childish view of morality (possibly due to innate misanthropic personality traits). My sister has ASPD (Clinical term for sociopathy) and I would just like to add that sociopaths can be functioning members of society and even good friends. They have a limited capacity for emotional empathy, but they do have cognitive empathy and they can realize that certain things hurt. Some also have the problem of just not caring, but they can be taught the repercussions of hurting other people for themselves. Most sociopaths are also able to feel emotional empathy, but only towards people they are very close with. My sister is amazing despite her flaws and people with ASPD deserve to be loved as well. I just wanted to add that, sorry.

He has quite openly discussed how abusive his childhood home was. But only after he got married, the real downhill began. Because his wife is most likely a borderline who dumps all her emotions on him. Its quite clear that veganism for him is just the high ground he needs to be judge others. Its an outlet for him, otherwise all that anger would be directed at himself. Well, in a way it is directed at himself. Like hating a father for being proud of his son, he is attacking his own libidinal wished of being loved by his parents. And castrating himself, is also really masochistic. But also something that can be rationalized by ideology. Quite common in the vegan movement, a lot of vegans hide all sorts of irrational behavior behind the weil of "ideology".

Yes, the two are pretty different. You can see in him talking about it that he's just talking out of his arse. Also, if it were true in any regard, the lack of empathy that is characteristic of the diagnosis extends to animals as well. So we know he's full of shite. I don't know all that much about him but if I had to throw out a random guess, I'd say he probably has more of a mechiavelian personality type with misanthropic views/tendencies, not sociopathy or psychopathy. Mechiavelianism is somewhat related to psychopathy, but has better self control and can also feel empathy in certain ways. It isn't a disorder per se, its a personality type. Misanthropy is the missing piece that would explain why he does not feel empathy for humans, but is capable of feeling those emotions towards animals. Again, this would not be possible if he was a psychopath.

Psychopath isn’t an official diagnosis, sociopathy (antisocial personality disorder) is. They share a lot of the same traits, but it differs from one expert to the next. A little off-topic, but I've been a longtime follower, and you've made a big impact on how I encourage people in their efforts to go plant-based. You've taught me that instead of an all-or-nothing, dogmatic approach to veganism, we should commend someone for any small effort they make to reduce their consumption of animal products. People like Richard DO give vegans a bad name. He vilifies people at a personal level for not being vegan in a rather inappropriate way. It's not the yo-yo comments it's laughing at the guy's death because he ate meat and "had it coming." There are vegans that are like fhis, maybe not as brutal, but the sentiments are there and expressed. Don't get me wrong, we see that in the non-Vegan community as well - celebrating death for the unvaccinated for instance - it's gross. The reason it reflects even worse on vegans is that the lifestyle spent a lot of time on the fringe and it has been moving toward the mainstream, but the ethical and moral arguments still make people defensive. If we want to bring more people in, we have to be cognizant of that and compel change, not beat them over the head with a heavy object. When people like Richard miss the complete cognitive dissonance of having empathy toward animals and zero empathy toward humans... People are turned off. Addressing the health concerns and ethical concerns in a logical manner is almost always well accepted, even if the recipient is not compelled to change, acting like a bully... No. I don't agree with the dogpiling, this is our culture, but I have my own cognitive dissonance... I wouldn't watch, let alone flag him, but I think YT is a better place without Richard. He is terribly irresponsible with his following.

Exactly. Most reasonable people don’t want to follow an ethical principle that doesn’t value human life, it’s just natural self preservation instincts. We can feel nihilistic about the human race at times and frustrated with things humans do but it doesn’t help to act like a turd, none of us are perfect. I hear so many vegans say they were motivated to change by someone “saying it like it is and being brutally honest etc”, but did they really change you, or were you already open to it, were they a complete stranger or were they a friend that you were more comfortable with. If someone was moved to change by someone insulting them it says something about them too, often they turn into angry vegans themselves. I’m very against the anti-vaxxers, and I’m especially irritated by those that make or use platforms to spread misinformation. I’m most irritated by those that are medical professionals spreading medical misinformation that know what they are saying isn’t true, like Wakefield and possibly Mercola. I even almost think they should be jailed because for example Wakefield damn well knows that he faked his study to sell his own vaccine, he lost his doctor credentials and he still goes and gives anti-vax talks, he is deliberately telling people things that he knows are untrue and as result he is IMO somewhat responsible for the deaths of anti-vaxxers, especially if that death was child that died because parents listened to him. My point is even with my strong feelings even I’m uncomfortable with people laughing at the deaths of anti-vaxxers. I get that to an extent it’s difficult to care about someone who’s not caring about themselves, but we can apply that thought to a lot of things, which comes back to we all have flaws.

Actually, you can have heart attacks blockages and heart disease from genetics, I have the genetic variant. It's far more likely that he died from the genetic variant than from the diet that weight lifters use to build muscle because weight lifters who eat meat are notoriously known for eating lots of carbs to get started and then return to a strict yokeless egg, broiled rotisseried or baked chicken (all lean) and rice/ often they will eat beans and rice but only in dishes with seafood which absolutely does not cause heart disease when not fried, we're talking omega 3 fish, crab, and prawn. So the fact that they think it's his diet just shows the ignorance they have about the diet itself.

I never knew that most of the traits was that.. I am righteous.. became a bully beater after being bullied all my life.. so I play HERO in public spaces and humiliate assholes.. I have major ADHD/perfectionist/meticulous/math whiz/always wanting to impress to impress.. not to show off.. just like to be handy and useful.. a nerd who wants to learn and teach what I've learned in the past.. its insane that it took me 45 years to be told I was a sociopath.. but not intentionally.. I've been accused of being what you call.. not thoughtful or absent minded.. a procrastinator.. hard time with social laws that make no sense lol.. all the signs are there.. one trait that doesn't make me a sociopath is that I never hurt anyone else in the process other than having a hard time showing empathy when something causes distress to someone else that I can't relate too.. also because I've never been to a funeral and I never experienced a death of a close family member until my dad died 2 years ago. Now I'm waking up!

I take issue with how you describe Greg Doucette around 14:00. It’s completely unfair to claim he is being some kind of pearl-clutcher with faux outrage because videos have been made calling him an a-hole. He is absolutely NOT mean to anyone overweight, a lot of his channel and advice is dedicated to helping people who are overweight. You can not like his advice or his tone, but I’ve never seen him be mean. Not ever. He is in no way comparable to vegan gains and has every right to be outraged about how VG spoke about his dead friend. You may say “oh that’s just Richard being Richard”, but to people outside the vegan KZfaq community, the things he says are legitimately appalling.

1000 Ways to Die was fake btw and not "actual situations". The deaths they showed were very loosely based on some real deaths but GREATLY changed to make them goofy, but they also just made stuff up that could kill someone but never happened. What they did would be like taking someone who died in a car accident because they weren't wearing a seat belt and weren't paying attention while changing a song and turning the story to "so and so died in a car crash because they weren't wearing a seat belt and they were getting road head from their mistress and went to change the music on the radio to something sexier and all those distractions ended in a car accident where the mistress got decapitated and when they found her head she had the guy's dick in her mouth". I mean that's not an actual episode, but that's how absurd their changes often were. From their wiki: "1000 Ways to Die takes a tongue-in-cheek dark humor approach to death through its presentation of stories derived from both myths and science, and the show makes liberal use of artistic license to significantly embellish or change the circumstances of real-life incidents that resulted in death for greater entertainment value." I get your greater point and I'm not disagreeing with it. I mean for example, there's a popular subreddit where people often laugh at anti vaxxers who die of covid and those were real people. I just couldn't stand listening to people at work in the early 2010's laugh at how stupid the dead people on 1000 Ways to Die when these things didn't even happen.

Very good video (as usual)...we're always someone else's jerk. Just a little note regarding John Meadows and the diet article you mentioned. First off, it dates from 2010, I believe J.M. could have soften his stance a little bit. In any case, he's not addressing the general population but usually advanced resistance-training athletes. Their training and body composition lend themselves to special nutrition, with the caveat that health might not be the foremost concern (the activity and the body you get from it being in themselves not standards of health). A diet high in saturated fats might offset some problems with the crazy amount of carbs that would be needed for the same caloric envelope. And I say this with no skin in the game: I'm a vegetarian whose athletic (amateur) endeavors are mainly carb-fueled lol. But I just wanted to bring some nuance to the question. J. Meadows was universally respected in the field (except by Richard, obviously, but there's always an exception to the rule haha) and he was a genuinely giving and generous being on all accounts. High-level bodybuilding is not healthy, but his passing seems unrelated to his pursuit in the field (which involves pharmacology, atypical nutrition, and stress on bodily functions). He suffered from some genetic, likely inherited, traits that look to be the reason for his pulmonary embolism. Admittedly, with bodybuilding you can never truly be sure, but most people wouldn't question the sport if it happened to a runner or soccer player...but yeah, I can't fault vegans for not being in agreement with the bodybuilder diet he pushed. I think vegetarianism could work for high level untested (i.e. relying on performance-enhancing drugs) bodybuilding although I don't have actual examples, but veganism is really harder for many reasons (macro ratios, especially during the so-called "prep" before a show, digestive dynamics with fiber content etc.) - and I'm not talking "gaining muscles on a vegan diet" or "can you get enough protein on a vegan diet". This is established A-OK. I'm talking high-level stuff...if bodybuilders promote so much meat and animal products, it's not because of some macho "rooaarrrr I am predator" unconscious fantasy or whatever, it's for the math to check out when you start manipulating your macro intake really hard...(plus the usual omnivore "cause' I like it", but since they don't differ from the gen pop there, it's not a factor).

I think greg was trying to say it was creepy how much satisfaction he was getting out of, particularly the part where he fakes laughs about John meadows son. I agree people will find ways not to go vegan but especially the online ones (not you) are actively rooting for people who either consume animal products to die so yes i would say he gives them a bad name. Edit I also don't want to see his channel removed unless you're doing whatever hatespeech is I think in American its when you encourage attacking someone but he should be able to say pretty much whatever he wants when KZfaq takes down videos its also pretty relevant information about the KZfaq you're subscribed to I was subscribed for years and I didn't even know he had a first strike would have liked to have known what he did and made my own decisions.

I'm not vegan and I have nothing against not eating animal products (I do recognize for the vast majority of Americans it would probably be healthier). But I do feel that people like Vegan Gains have a terrible impact on public perception. Greg's statement "this is why people have a poor reputation of vegans" I think is spot on. It's a few bad actors in the community. When I think of vegans, the first 2 people that I think of are the super mean girl on Jubilee (I think?) and Vegan Gains. I used to have a neutral perception of vegans, but literally, these 2 people have definitely affected my views. Despite how hard I try to stay objective, if I say people like Vegan Gains and Vegan Teacher didn't give me a negative impression, I would be lying. And I feel like like for a vast majority of "normies" (I'm referring to people who don't care what they in their mouth), the only exposure they have to vegans are people like Vegan Gains and Vegan Teacher.

Thank you for this even handed and thoughtful post. I think Greg abused his considerable KZfaq clout to get Richard banned because John was a personal friend. He clearly didn’t know his channel like the rest of us who grind through his content to find some gold. I stopped watching him a couple of years ago. It was all too grey and depressing. So for Greg it would have seemed like an attack out of the blue. Let’s hope this gets him out of his black dungeon and out in the real world. I love a good game like the next nerd but doing that 24/7 is corrosive to mental health for anyone, let alone someone who probably had some sort of problem to start with. Not sure about him being a sociopath. They usually have more street smarts about offending their paying customers. He just seems stuck in high school. Maybe his brain never went through that maturity stage due to his lack of social interaction. My nephew is like this - no job, no partner, no life, just smokes weed and watches other people gaming all night and sleeps all day. It’s no way to live. He has got more and more weird over the years. It’s an unnatural way to live.

Vegan gains is just some sadistic BPD borderline with some highly traumatized "alter" (that's why I keep saying that BPD is similar to DID, and not to narcissism or psychopathy) who was hated or beaten as a child (especially when he was crying), so he is programmed to hate other children (especially when they are crying, or show weakness). His childhood experience is mirrored in his behaviour but he was probably not traumatized enough to develop it into DID (because in DID his angry alter would be much more hidden and show up only very occasionally, especially in self-damaging behaviour) His existence as a child very likely wasn't supported in a healthy and loving way, he has a massive psychological wound based on that, therefore he is reacting there without any prefrontal cortex control and his reactions are extreme because the hate and anger he couldn't express against the perpetrator he is expressing towards the innocent now. He also probably feels very unworthy of being loved. Traumatized children will develop self-hatred because they subconsciously think something is wrong with them because their father or mother didn't love them. The hatred he felt from someone in childhood he accepted as his own and when he shows these types of behaviours he actually shows hatred to his own inner child without realizing it. This is of course just my opinion based on observing him from many years ago.
