little tip: a lot of supermarkets have bins where you can disgard your old lamps. i periodically dig through one and get the CFL's and LED lamps. good way to get a bunch of these circuits quick and free.

Hi. I love your videos. Quick question. You clearly stated that your high powered transformer is made by 800 or 1,000 turns. But my question is what if I increased the turns? Will it result in higher voltage? 1500 turns or 2,000 turns possibly in my case. Thanks :)

That's okay, as long as it will drop one of the muggers in the park when you're being jumped, it's a good thing. You can get hit with 1000 volts with little to no current and it wont put you down, but crank that amperage up and you could put a bull down.

MrBrymstond well problem is that when frequency of the sparks drops, it will not have same shocking effect. you need that frequency to keep muggers muscles contracting. if the frequency of zaps is too low, it will just hurt but not paralyze

Hi, I built your circuit from an old lamp today, but it didn't work! My problem is with the driver circuit, because I tested the transformer and the doubler segment with another driver and it worked and made some very loud sparks! But with 13007 transistor as driver, the transfomer's secondary wire doesn't spark at all! It draws about 350mA and the transistor gets warm but it dosn't make any spark.. Please help me, I want this circuit to work for me because of its low current consumption..

I made this circuit, But the voltage output on the transformer is very very low, I made it the exact way you did hooked it up to 9v battery and it makes tiny arcs 1 mm at most, it’s also a very very thin arc only visible in the dark and only makes when I first power it on and when I just turn it off, What went wrong???

Robbi Robson at that time it hurt alittle, like one of those zappers from a lighter, after further examination I it turned out I hooked up the transistor wrong, I got it, I put 20 turns on the primary and no idea on the secondary, with 7.2 volts in it made 4mm arcs with 14 v it made 1 cm, and I haven’t played with the primary sense but if I dropped to 10 turns it’d be a nice homemade arc lighter

1 if you have 2 bipolar transistors its much better to use both of them in a royer oscillator configuration. 2 WHY DID YOU USE 0.5 MM WIRE FOR THE FEEDBACK COIL DRIVING THE BASE TROUGH 1K RESISTOR? YOU WASTED VALUABLE SPACE THAT COULD LET YOU WIND MORE SECONDARY TURNS=MORE OUTPUT VOLTAGE. 3 winding 5 layers of tape each layer of secondary windings is again unnecessary overkill. 2 layers of plastic cooking foil will do just fine. 4 after the 2nd stage of the walton-cockroft multiplier its not worth it. if 2 capacitor stages arent enough then you need better transformer.
@KasyanTV
@KasyanTV 5 жыл бұрын
for feedback coil you can use more thin wire, but with 2 similar it's more easier. Anyway the 1st row it's primary winding and we put isolatie tap top of themregardless of wire, and secondary winding we start from new row, so we don't lose anything. The goal is to make a transformer from an economy lamp, and so you can make any transormer. Isolation is never superfluous when it comes to high-voltage devices, remember high-voltage transformers from TVs, they are also poured with epoxy resin
@two_number_nines
@two_number_nines 5 жыл бұрын
you need to do a teardown of car ignition coil to see how much isolation is appropriate. 1 layer of tape between secondary layers is more than enough. after that you are wasting space therefore loosing voltage. the place where you need to isolate heavily is after the final layer of the secondary, because it will try to break trough the isolation, go trough the transformer core and arc with the first layer. high voltage transformers are a whole branch of science

@therealjammit
@therealjammit 5 жыл бұрын
I feel your pain. Transformers can be difficult. I started by using an existing low frequency transformer (as an example: 120v to 12v) and rewind the secondary (120v to 9v). You may also want to look up a circuit called a "joule thief". It's a rather simple circuit that's used to light a white LED from a single cell battery. Winding the transformer for that is easy because the transformer isn't critical, but the better you make the transformer the better it operates.
