In this Video, Riley and TJ dive deep into common misconceptions around the term “Shoulder Turn” in golf instruction.
When we are referring to shoulder turn, what we are really referring to is rotation of the spine. This in turn affects how we move the shoulders, but we can move those shoulders in more ways than you may think…
This leads to a fascinating discussion of how to control the instrument (golf club) with this shoulder turn. We hope you all enjoy!

This has to be the best thing I’ve seen when it comes to KZfaq tuition. Haven’t seen this anywhere else & implemented this today & has made such a difference to my movement. Hitting it further with less effort. Don’t usually comment but wanted to come back to this & say thanks as always find your videos great but this simple explanation has made such a difference.

You boys are the bomb! I’m a 6-7 capper who recently won a buddies 6 day 40 guy golf tourney at Casa de Campo and I truly believe my success was due to things I have learned from your vid’s! In particular, the concept of late loading of the lead arm/ spiral load unload ! Was an amazing revelation for me and translated into the best driving week of my life - crushed it all week, deep and in play. Amazing! Please keep it up - learning so much about proper movement maps, use of the clubs design, and the various functions /roles of the body segments. Thanks so much! Happy holidays to you!

Once again i’ve got to give you guys credit. I started watching your videos about a month ago, and I’ve learned an incredible amount from you. I’ve never heard anybody talk about shoulder rotation this way, and it makes so much sense. Same thing with your videos about hip movement and clearance. I’ve been hitting the ball with a lot more confidence and positive results as a result of the knowledge I’m gleaning from you guys, and from Milo. I love your collaboration. Thank you. 😊

In a “secret move” video you mentioned lateral movement first and then rotation. This was a big unlock for me, creating space and helping me square the club face. In this and other recent videos, I’ve seen nothing about the lateral first move. How does it connect to these shoulder movement concepts? What should trigger the backswing? Appreciate all the content, thanks!

Rib sway, essentially. When done properly, the lateral move accomplishes both lateral and vertical movement of the trail scap/shoulder in one move ☝️

DG coaching is just getting started but not many true experts out there. It would be so cool to see your take/explanation of the bio mechanics happening in the disc golf throw. I know I’ve been commenting a lot on this but I see so many pros today (Hovland, Koepka, etc) and old school (Jack, Hogan, Snead, etc) moving the hand path in the over the top motion. Not really sure if the shoulders you are demonstrating here have a direct effect on the hand path but it looks like it does when TJ demonstrates it. I’ve been having success moving more the Victor Hovland way with straighter ball flights and fade b/c the path is getting left which I like…the key is to make sure the club is shallowing. Love this page and content!! Thoughts?

This makes a lot of sense, finally! Somebody puts it so I can understand, I’m 57 and my whole life I’ve struggled with over the top which I do just like you said not to for year and now lower back problems have arrived, so I translated this as opposed turn it’s more tilt up? The club needs to go up then around? So I took this to range today and wow what a difference I wasn’t getting stuck and which forces me over the top, and club came through the zone so much easier and slices and pulls were almost gone completely! So I’m turn to achieve this I brought the club more up as apposed to around!! Is this correct? FYI I’m a 6 handicap that has survived on being able to get up and down! This may have changed my life! Guys, love your stuff, but in all your videos you refer to being over or under "the plane" and you, at least that I know of, never really identify or explain what "the plane" is. Also, does this "the plane" shift during the swing? Everyone talks about planes in the swing, what is your definition of "the plane"? Thanks, and please keep the lessons coming!
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 6 ай бұрын
What a GREAT question! The swing plane, if looking down the line will draw a line from the hosel of the club through the trail shoulder. That is what we're referring to as plane.
@golfweed9947
@golfweed9947 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Very interesting, read a ton of books, watch hours of video, never have I heard or read that exact plane line. Ball to base of the neck, straight line up the shaft at address, never through hosel through the trail shoulder. Is this a static line established at address, or does it move with the shoulder (lower at impact, for instance). Which brings me to another question, what is the relationship of the "shaft plane" to the "shoulder plane" through impact? Does the shoulder plane point at the target line, inside the target line or beyond? Or should you try to match the shoulder plane, that is be parallel to one another through the ball? Thanks for all the information!@@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools

@@golfweed9947 easy question first, the line remains static. And the shoulder axis (where the chest is pointing) should have some degree of target bias at P7 (impact)

@@jherl8307 cool, point is it’s difficult to describe the ‘shoulder’ since it is made up of 4 bones. We are simply describing that most players inappropriately scap retract to begin the swing leading to spine problems throughout the backswing 🙏🙏
