They were cleaned with water, but not dried properly. My understanding is there was expanding water vapor on the die that cracked them when getting hot. There aren't any issues with these gpus, and this video is just clickbait.

False News : The guy assumed that is the issue. Never said it was the issue but maybe a possibility. He later did an update video. Just after some research and more information from his customers.He confirmed it's impossible for drivers to cause such an issue to occur. He believes most of them bought their cards from the same supplier and that the place they were stored in was very humid and that humidity caused the issue of the chip to pop. Also I've been using that driver version on my 6800xt and 6950xt reference models and zero issues.

Cap. The actual issue is that the GPUs were mined on. Normal GPUs are fine.

It wasn't even that, it was moisture on the die from the miners. Lively cleaned without drying them properly. Expanding water vapor caused the dies to crack.

ive been running that driver version since i built my pc back in late december and everything is going really well. im not sure how i can change it before any issue happens but my rx6650xt is working perfectly fine

@jeremytaylor5260 I actually got a couple of problems with it I think it was because of the switch on the card or whatever but basically what happened was I noticed my fps in valo going from 300-220 on average to consistently lower than 200 and even dipping to 80s IN APEX HOWEVER I went from capped at 144 and not dropping to can't even hit above 80 idk what's wrong I flipped the switch back and valorant ia back to normal I think I still perform a little under the benchmark vids but I haven't gotten a chance to test apex yet

41 cards out of 100 million? I don't think it's the driver. One thing for sure everyone most jumping to conclusions. You should be running 22.11.2 for all rx 6000 series card's. Microsoft approved and validated. For the gpu die to crack like that is heat.

RX 6700 XT ? I’m sorry I’ve had my pc for about 4-5 months now and and popped up on my screen and I clicked update and ever since I can’t do anything without a black screen popping up and to regain access to my pc I have to restart- it’s so frustrating I’ve tried what feels like everything

All gpus are having driver issues with nvidia. Several of the last nvidia drivers including the latest one literally bricks your pc or corrupts several windows files or functions and sfc scanning can't fix it. The latest driver was how my pc completely died because of the latest nvidia driver and it was so bad i couldnt even reset the pc or do any other recovery options so i had to get windows completely reinstalled at a repair shop.

It’s false news anyways. It was just the repair shops assumption that it was a driver issue. AMD confirmed it to not a driver issue, but they are still looking into it. Plus, all the cards with the issue were traced back to being used for mining.

Ok this has been debunked. They were all resales from a miner that stored then badly. The gpu dye cracked as a result of moisture. This from just one minor in Germany.

If this was happening with Nvidia cards, I'd immediately be assumed that the cards were mined on or used and poorly taken care of instead of a driver issue.

The issue is that it was used for mining. But more specifically that it was stored in poor conditions. Which degraded the gpu and caused a failure. Soo not directly due to mining. But just really stupid miners. Not taking care of the gpus (That's what I heard and read)

Don't listen to this guy if you're worried. It's not at all a driver issue (they were all running newest drivers, as do most people) - all cards were traced back to sellers who were selling these GPU's used (possibly from some sort of factory), and they likely weren't taken care of/stored properly. Please don't jump to conclusions to clickbait and scare people.

I have an x 5700 xt. I bought it 3 months ago, a week or 2 ago it randomly didn't turn on. I took it out and put it back in and suddenly it kicked to life. Last night the pc turned on and the gou didn't once again, only this time it didn't work when i reseated it. I changed the psu and all the wires, and i know it gets power because when i turn the pc off the right fan twitches every single time. It just refuses to kick on. I have a 1000 watt power supply plugged into my pc atm. I am 14 and I spent my life savings on the pc. Please help!

@@harriswone4215 they determined the drivers didn’t actually kill the cards, they had cracked die and was something due to mounting pressure. Even if there are other issues, a driver can’t kill a GPU like that.

@@Frosty-dr8bs Yeah,I watched the video by graphically challenged which said a driver issue couldn’t possibly cause physical damage,but still AMD 7000 series was the greatest chance they had to redeem themselves given all the backlash Nvidia was facing but they still underperformed,they might never get a chance like that again PS I was adhering to the statement that a GPU being killed by a bad driver sounds like such an AMD thing and NOT THAT it actually did.

So my friend bought a RX5000 series back in the day, said he wanted me to install it. Everything good so far, but as soon as I tried to install the driver the gpu fried half way through the driver. Didn’t show picture through either of the ports, tried on multiple pcs. That’s the day i and my friend learned not to buy gpu’s from AMD.
