Rule says no tint allowed. But shades are not tint. They cannot fine you for this. Each police seems to make his own law.

In short, Supreme Court judgement on the issue says that no film should be stuck on any glass area of the vehicle. Even if film is transparent it amounts to violation. Sunshade on other hand does not fit under the definition of film. More so it is not stuck to the glass. In my view it's perfectly legal, till there modification of the order of SC.

If any traffic authority fines or penalise, kindly ask him under which rule he is doing so, you can instantly cross check the rule number on internet if it doesn't cover the claim of the authority you can challenge. him.

High court says , that you cannot use film and in case 50% rule for tint is for manufacturers only , and high court also said that you can use sun shades if you have problem with sunlight or uv rays the petitioner was Vipul Gambhir and you can check for his judgement

In Maharashtra it's not ban as I several times I was stopped by police to check docs.They never asked to remove the sunshades on front windows.

Sun shade driver side is not permissible as it acts as a blinds. You won't be able to judge a vehicle which is trying to overtake you from the right side of your vehicle. While on the front passenger side it is still okay if the outside left rearview mirror is visible to you and can clearly see what's going on on the left side of your vehicle. Tinting glasses are permissible to a limit on passenger sides and not on the driver side. Anything hindering the view of outside in or inside out on the driver side is not permissible. Even sometimes people use towels or bedsheets on windows to bar sunlight while traveling on a sunny day. One must get a full view of front, both sides, and rear while driving is what the rule says. Fir woh tint ho ya shades.

This is the current explanation of why tints are not allowed. Rule is mostly made for safe driving. If the driver can't see back or side traffic properly, he/she is prone to accidents. Just don't use towel, curtain, or anything that cover drivers back or side views as simple as that.

If this is n law why this is not stopped manufacturing units I.e. factories itself

As per my experience, if you put sun shades on driver and co-driver sides, it hampers driver's vision while driving.

Don't know where you are from but in maharashtra it's not illegal, as it is not a film. But yes in places like punjab police will challan but its about 500 not 10k. Use it wisely and not at night driving on highways.

Koi hard n fast rule nhi hai...as per my knowledge, 40% film is allowed as per SC guidelines. I often visit Delhi with slightly dark films stuck over my Safari's windows, but visibility is clear. Else AC wont work. Ye sab rule paise jhaadne ka zariya hai.. Traffic police to apko tyre pressure ki wajh se bhi challan thama sakti h.
