Thank god someone’s said it! I’m fed up of the constant churn of products, the poor website experience, & the whole over hyped marketing / super high price point for everything. It’s getting old and really patronising now 😕😕

Finally someone who admits not every CT product is great. For example, the “universal” pillow talk looks horrible on me. I look dead. Pulls orange/peachy with a grey cast too. But, I do have some amazing products in my collection so this review, well, it’s just fair and so refreshing to get such a balanced view ! 💜

The shadows just don't show up on me & the same can be said for the eyeliner. I attributed it to be light with dark circles which I felt neutralized the eye shades in general. The blush worked for me & the Medium Pillowtalk lipstick, nothing else. I should add I didn't try the darker blush since I thought it would be too dark for me.

Yes the pillow talk lipstick just looks brown on me. And the pillow talk luxury palette just looks orange - not a good look. I do actually really like her glittery pillow talk lipsticks and I like her walk of no shame gloss too!

Pillow Talk Blush looked horrendous on me. More like muddy shiny orange bronzer…….. where was this universal pink? Unfortunately it was a big regret purchase.

Omg yes! I'm sooo happy you brought it up! I actually hate the Charlotte Tilbury adverts so much. In 2021 where we're much more educated about ingredients, magic creams and elixirs are just not selling it. I haven't bought anything from the brand and I've yet to be tempted past those terrible ads

You are a breath of fresh air. I am sick of the CT worship. Even if they aren’t good items. It makes me sus the whole brand. The truth in this makes me want to rethink her brand. Maybe I can find a few gems. I have had three fails from the brand and 1 success.

I don’t “worship” any brand, but I have had about 20 successes and only 1 fail from CT. There are some products I stay away from, because I know my skin and figure they won’t work for me.

I have now tried 5 CT products. (4 this year, 1 YEARS ago) Tried that hyped up, air brushed, pressed powder years ago. Didn't really like it. Gave it away. 2022: Beautiful Skin foundation (beautiful, glass like finish on my skin, great neutral tone (#02), but creases, looks rugged on textured skin around my mouth and chin, and not certain if product makes my eyes run) Setting Spray: WOW! Shiny finish. *has its time and place, I guess, smells a bit funky Legendary Brows: nice little wand, but color was way too dark, looked like Groucho Marx Eyes to Mesmerize (Oyster): nice enough shade but it was a disaster. Caused immediate and EXTREME blurriness to my eyes. Could not see. I hoped it would pass but after the longest (maybe 15 minutes) I washed my entire face off. It dissipated. My eyelids have been terribly sore and swollen now, for days. I think I'm done with Charlotte Tilbury. Ingredients seem iffy for my skin. ps) received a lipstick sample pack. Sweet cheezits just about EVERY shade was somehow orangey. And the much anticipated Pillow Talk...I just DO NOT get the hype. The only shade sample that was on the cool side was the red one. I found that hilarious. 😄

I always thought CT was overpriced and too over exposed on tv and internet. My branch of John Lewis gave over a huge counter for CT at the expense of Sisley, Bare Minerals and Dior who no longer have counters. The flawless finish was coloured matched by a very heavily made up assistant and it was worse foundation l have every had. None of my daughters wanted it either! Chanel is beautiful, Estee Lauder still great but are given much smaller counters in John Lewis. I think money is talking here rather than quality led.

Those two products are easy passes for me, especially the face mask. I’m sure it feels lovely for a few minutes, but so would cold spoons or a cool wash cloth, neither of which would cost me $65.

I got many products from Charlotte Tilbury: skin care and make up, and I LOVED every single one of them. Magic cream is number 1. Lipsticks, highlighters, beach sticks, eye shadows, eyebrow pencils, mascara - all very good quality and long lasting products. They smell lovely, too. My skin is very sensitive and reacts quickly if something is not right for me. I have no complaints and I keep going back to CT for more products, and always checking her web to see what's new.

I quit trying to make a purchase on her website for the reasons you stated, I only purchase from store’s selling her products. My enthusiasm over her products has dwindle a little for the reasons you mention. Like you I love some of her products, and will continue purchasing them. Your comments are all the things that I have thought for a very long time, and happy that someone has finally mention them. I TOTALLY agree with you! When I browse that web site, I feel like they’re trying to brain wash me. They have a way of making you WANT their products, but for most of them they are way over priced for what you get. People think Natasha Denona palettes are expensive, but they have no problem buying a Tilbury product. If you (can) step back and really look at what you are getting, you will realize you are getting ripped off. I am sure there are some great products in that brand, but I don’ like to feel like I’m being manipulated into buying them. And don’t get me started on the annoying, constant pop-ups!

I have one (Glam) and find it beautiful, now trying to choose another, torn between Nude, Star and Retro. This is the first time I've heard of lipsticks pulling orange instead of pink. For me it's the opposite, no matter what brand of "orange/peach " lipstick I buy , it turns pink ! Maybe I need to try out CT lipsticks 😅

I find the video to be a breathe of fresh air in general. Not all products from not matter what the brand are great & I find the more products pushed out also drops the quality at some point. Quality or quantity is my preference since it allows for focus on what works. I miss the days when new products came out in the spring & fall then there would be the Christmas offerings! It wasn't overload & it was manageable. I actually looked forward to what would be coming out as opposed to now when I almost dread seeing even more stuff. I remember having items I loved which I used. These were items they had for years which were tried & true products which weren't discontinued often. It is all about profits which I understand but I don't need 30 eyeshadow palettes many of which I used 2 times if I was lucky. You did mention the orange undertones in the lipsticks. This is the reason I try to see the products I want in person as exchanges can be bothersome. My nearest store carrying CT is an hour away. Ugh!

Im so glad you mentioned the lipsticks - they do exactly the same on me - nothing pink unless it's an out and out berry colour is ever pink - it just turns brown. Same applies to the pillow talk eyeshadow which is so annoying

I agree with you and lots of comments, I thought it was just me that the lipstick all have an orange tone when applied, I also think that a sale across the products would nice for CT fans, it always seems to be the same products on offer, which to be honest I already have. I do love some of her products and have several and may purchase more if she brings out something different and at a reasonable price.

Your honesty is refreshing. Thank you! I had an anti-CT moment today when I looked at a particular product’s ingredients. Some inexpensive cosmetics lines have implemented formulas made without parabens as preservatives. I can’t understand why any of the luxury lines still use them. To me, their inclusion immediately cheapens a product. I’m not about to spend top dollar for a product that isn’t scrupulously formulated. But that’s my sensibility and not shared by everyone. Are parabens not considered estrogenic in the UK?

There's nothing wrong with parabens. They are safe and rarely cause skin irritation. Companies are removing parabens because consumers have decided that they are dangerous. They are basically being forced not to use them and to advertise they aren't being used by the power a pretty potent misinformation rumor mill. Most people don't even know why they want them removed. Unfortunately some of the replacement preservatives don't have the track record of parabens and some people are experiencing skin irritation from them. Lab Muffin has a great article on her blog about the great paraben scare where she breaks down the studies that concluded parabens could be dangerous. She and Dr. Dray also have videos on it.

@@SandiTink Except no oncologist told you that because the science doesn't support it. Right after I replied to you I read a comment saying not to use parabens because they cause skin cancer. Such is the silliness being spread about parabens. That you would rather make a quippy comment than look at both sides of the argument speaks volumes about the ignorance being spread about pretty much everything these days.

@@ajae... So you know everything? Apparently not, because it was an oncologist. Try looking up info on the role of parabens in estrogen receptors. The data he found was enough for him to recommend that anyone with hormone-related cancer avoid parabens. There may not be sufficient data to prove causation, but there was enough for caution. When it comes to cancer, potentially erring on the side of caution is prudent.

You have said everything I like and don’t like about CT brand. So glad you’ve brought up how orange / warmed tone every lipstick is ! I really struggle with this. I gave feedback a couple of years ago to CT Head office - no changes yet !

Oh yes, the CT ads (which I watch in support of you and your channel - volume set to zero 😂). It's a constant barrage of non stop ads, I've gotvto the point where I visibly cringe when I hear her voice .... "dharlings" 🤢 How many times do I need to be asked if I need help? Apparently, every single time I click on a product! No. Leave me alone. And take your silly little pop ups with you!! Soooooooo, you put the eye cream on at night, wake up to puffy eyes because of the eye cream - but apply said eye cream again, in the morning, to reduce the puffiness! Is that right? I'm a bit over CT. I find her products to be very overpriced, especially her palettes. Anyhoooooo, I really, REALLY enjoyed this. I think you've said everything we've all been thinking. Agree, absolutely 100% I do not understand how she gets away with charging what she does, I thinks she is comparable to Too Faced. All the sexual over-tones are rediculous, arent we adults? I dont want something called Glowgasm smeared on my face, it sounds really disgusting and I worry about Herpes...

I agree with all your comments, Gemma. I've also been getting the feeling that CT have "lost their way". I love a lot of their products, especially the eye pallets and the Filmstar Bronze & Glow, but lately it seems like they are bringing out new products just for the sake of drawing in faithful customers to spend money on stuff which they neither need or even want. One of my biggest gripes is also the lipstick shades. I have only found one CT lipstick which suits my cool/pinky undertone - In Love with Olivia. The worst culprit as far as lipstick colours (and names) are concerned is Stoned Rose which is out-and-out orange. The colour descriptions are very inaccurate. Don't get me started on the pop-ups......

Yes yes at last someone voicing exactly what I've been thinking...love alot of CT products, but absolutely fuming at the stingy amount of product in my recently purchased Hollywood flawless filter, hardly any product on the dopher....not good enough! Great video Gemma! Like with most brands, I too love some CT products, while some others don’t work for me. Your honesty is a breath of fresh air though, and I appreciate your chuckles at the ridiculous claims… “Reduces the look of dark circles by 171%…” what the heck? If the dark circles are gone (or “visibly” gone!), then they are 100% gone, what is this 171%??!! I am tired of the marketing gimmicks that are not only erroneous and misleading, but also insulting to consumers…

We just got CT here in Australia yesterday. Ive bought a couple of items through Net-a-Porter but I have to say, I find the CT brand overhyped. The Hollywood Flawless Filter is ok but its not a freakin' foundation and I wish people would stop pretending it is, its a tinted primer at best. She has only released very limited products here with a focus on $AU328- pre-packaged items, you should be allowed some choices for that (i think $AU328 IS £164, so a LOT of money!) For my money, I'd prefer a mix of Nars and No7 products. I totally agree with you about the face palette, I picked one up recently for $AU98 but then recently a new 4 pan face palette was released and it cost $AU160, thats $50 more than Hourglass holiday palettes which are extremely popular in Australia, Hourglass owns the face palette market in Australia at Christmas.

Absolutely. Love a balanced review of a brand - nobody is perfect! Colour chameleon pencils are wonderful, but the eyeliners are terrible for oily lids. Airbrush bronzer is fab - foundations are cakey even on oily skin. And that website - the constant adverts/promotions popping across the screen are just so, so annoying. How anyone thought they'd attract extra buying from customers is beyond me! There's little incentive for being a repeat customer. I'd rather use other sites and avoid the adverts.

Ahhh YES!! 🙌🏼 I treated myself to a lip kit inc the pillow talk lipstick, mini liner and 2 mini glosses. Id wanted to try it for AGES..The lippy does look quite flat and a bit brown on me, 😒I bought a dupe by NYX, Eurotrash and it's much nicer and stays 'pinker'. The glosse? overrated and irritated my lips. Glad it was at a slightly discounted price. As for the skin makeup "samples" not enough to beautify a gerbils face let alone mine. 🐹 Wont buy off this brand again, it's just marketing and overpriced HYPE HYPE HYPE!! ....And breathe....🤨😌😂

Love this! CT is my favourite brand but I totally find the promo very kookie and agree with the endless releases. Not sure she has to to charge anywhere near what she does !!

Thank you for such an honest review. Basically I would put a sheet mask in the fridge for the mask effect (as a migraine sufferer, I always have a cool eye mask in the fridge) the marks it leaves on the skin are a nightmare in my book. Also with the eye cream, I'd put a much cheaper one on (the no7 eye creams are brill under makeup, heck I've even got an elemis eye cream for less than £40 in the past that was amazing) and use a simple £8 jade roller, that's also been sat in the bottom drawer of the fridge, to roll around my eyes. Same effect, bye bye puffy eyes. I can then put my make-up on straight away, as normally I barely have enough time to let skincare sink in before makeup on top (15-20min while I sort the hair and dress) Nice idea Charlotte but not overly innovative

YES!! Pulls seriously orange on me and I’m quite tan. I do love lots of her products but it isn’t pillowtalk or the ones she frequently hypes. My go to lipstick has been “wedding bells” 💗. Thanks for saying what we have all been thinking 🤔 🙏

I have used CT products in the past when they first came to my local John Lewis store. Some of the products I liked, but I felt they were really over priced for what they were. Some of the products I stopped using and they are still sitting around in a make up bag where I keep my caste offs although I do try to past them on to my daughter as I hate the waste. After a period of not using any make up I have started to use make up again. This is all thanks to Gemma, for giving sound advice that is honest and directions to what products are out there and how to use them. Recently I went browsing on the CT counter as I was looking at the brow products as mine need taming. The sales assistant/ make up artist stated that CT was very ‘high end’ . This comment I found irritating. He then put a brow colour on one brow which I previously stated that I felt was too dark, as my hair and brows are going grey. And the next shade down on the other. We both agreed the lighter shade suited me better. I then had to ask him to remove the darker shade and re apply the lighter shade so that both my brows were the same colour. This is the first time I have ever needed to do that when two shades of a product are used to compare. I did buy the clear gel for the brows although I know once I have used up the product I will buy something similar elsewhere.

I enjoyed this video. I have the eye cream. I may have bought it on sale bundled with the Push Up lashes. I use it followed by a jade roller. Im. It sure it’s the best eye cream I’ve ever used for “instant” results. Im still working with it. It is very expensive so that might be a barrier to a future purchase. Believe it or not L’Oreal’s Eye Defense is very good and I love the Maybelline Age Rewind products .On the high end again I’ve been using some Tatcha eye cream samples that I like.

Appreciate this, and yes I am another who puts on a CT lipstick and orange tones pop out. I’m a foundation match to you so it might be the skin tone. The marketing plan likely changed with the new owners. I rarely return products to Sephora but both fair and medium in her big bronzers went back. Awful shades in both. Couldn’t make either work. But as a general rule most CT products I absolutely love.

I’m late to comment but wanted to say thank you for your honesty. I’m fair like you and I agree, the pink lipsticks don’t look pink on me either, which is disappointing as I love a nice pinky mauve. I am going to buy the mini filmstar bronze and glow because I struggle finding a bronzer that doesn’t make me look like an Oompa Loompa 😂 (I’m looking at you Hourglass!)

Yes yellow undertones in the flawless foundation I find it very sallow I have to mix it down with moisturiser to get a less yellow look. Personally I prefer Cle de Peu, Tom Ford and Pat M. Agree with your video! Go girl 👧

I totally agree with you when it comes to CT. The online site is so annoying with the pop ups and a lot of the products are overrated. I have never bought one of her lipsticks but after hearing what you just said I won't be. I hate lipsticks that pull orange. Also she has been in the industry long enough to know that we don't all have yellow based complexions. A lot of brands have this problem for me. Her powders are also very drying on me. So not much there for me to buy.

I love the CT products I have but I am very choosy about what I do buy. I usually watch a couple of video of different people using the product before I made a decision to buy because, let’s face it all makeup can be expensive and I do have a few other places to spend my money. So it’s great to know what works and what doesn’t! Thanks 😊

I honestly have never understood CT I thought it was for mature skin and I swear that was what she said her target audience was… not ever seen mature women or men advertised and so many brands are bad for this cause mature skin is still a market with money but idk her magic cream is Shea butter too much parfum Humectant oil and basically matrixyl labelled as bio nymph which just adds to my red flags… her makeup is sooo overpriced will never buy it 😭😂 I’ll wait for that drug store dupe

I can only wear warm tones, so the oranges are well suited for me. My biggest complaints are the flimsy plastic packaging on the CT quad eyeshadows and the size of her products in general. For those price points, we deserve my quantity of product, imho.

Are you anywhere near a Space NK? In my experience they’ve always been good at giving testers to try at home. I really like the mineral one, it’s kind of like a BB cream, but haven’t tried the other one.

Love CT for foundation, Lippy and eyebrow. But completely with you on the lack of pink (in fact the only pink I loved has been discontinued (duchess). Also with you on the poor packaging of some products. I go to CT for luxury but feel the CT crown may be slipping…hope I’m wrong 🤷‍♀️

I am not a fan of CT products in general - find all of them too warm for my skin, and too glittery. In fairness, I haven't tried any of her skin care, so can only talk to the cosmetics. Glad to hear you mention the orangey tones!
