The two had been rivals for years, as the two disagreed on a number of substantial points in the philosophy of language. The discussion ends on a cliffhanger while Dummett straps Davidson onto a metal frame with a slow moving laser working its way up to his torso.

Thanks for uploading this. I was a student of Dummett back in the early 70’s so I am more familiar with his views. I found the discussion very interesting. Dummett was chain smoking as usual. Towards the end of an hour lecture he would get very twitchy as the lack of nicotine started to affect him. He would sometimes try to put a non-existent cigarette in his mouth.

Had Dummett as a tutor at Oxford in the late 80s. This really brings me back. Thanks for posting.
