@@TSDamiano Rupert Murdoch is way more richer than George Soros. The Romania revolt was against the Communist government and he had little to nothing to do with the Ukraine war. It was started by Russian separatists who took over Crimea(previously controlled by Ukraine) and wanted to remain Russian.

The main reason why Murdoch holds so much power is because he sets the agenda of politics across the world. Take Australia, as Jordan Shanks talks about in his some of his video essays about media, "If you want to know the news of tomorrow, read the Australian today," which says that those who write the news in Australia take their news stories from the Australian, and with the Australian being read by those who write the stories of the conglomerate. Same with the New York Times in America and other Murdoch owned sources across the developed world.

I think it is too simplistic to think that one person can form public opinion. However, I think Murdoch will definitely go down as one of the most powerful king makers. The problem is the nature of corporatized media, built through consolidation. Just take the hundreds of companies owned by Murdoch, it is scarry the amount of power he has in the visual, print and online medium. What we need are public journalistic institutions that are not funded by the state. But then these never scale or make enough money. People should be discerning in the media they consume, but they never are. Scary times. I don't think the swing to the far right in US, UK or Australia would have been possible without News Corp.

Rupert is an amazing man. I have been shooting with him and lived on one of his properties as a child. My real first name is Ray and I so wish I could relive that life again. I so miss the times I had on the farm. My Dad was set up by a corrupt manager Les Hewitt who use to steal fuel, steal from the farm like never before and dad caught him so many times
