I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

However, the market generally pushes the areas that bring in money. Switching from combustion engines to electric means a lot of money for R&D, fewer specialized suppliers, less repair revenue, less service revenue. So why should a manufacturer switch "voluntarily" here?

Elon not long ago said, there should be no EV credit, nor carbon tax, nor fossil fuel subsidies. No import or export tax. Let the companies make the wrong choices fall, and give the room to the ones who did right. EVs and the charging infrastructure should be good enough to be an economical nobrainer to switch.

Advertisers dictate the speech that is associated with their brand by patronizing those sites with appropriate moderation to ensure brand safety. Our government is held to the first amendment and as such does NOT prohibit free speech unless it is a national security issue (during wartime historically). Ironically a state government just recently violated the first Amendment by passing a law respecting the establishment of religion by displaying the Ten commandments. Where is the outrage from the Right? So far it is just the inaccurate perception of censorship by corporations that folks attribute to the gov't and the left but really real censorship is only being done by the far right.

I also choose not to have my tax dollars go to bailing out auto companies that chose short term gain over long-term health of the company. I also choose not to be in a trade war with China because legacy automotive companies can’t compete with the likes of China because they’ve dragged their feet for so long.

And for what I have no clue. There was no harassment or animosity in a damn thing I said, simply a post in response to a post. This is actually the second time I’ve encountered this. But I didn’t want to believe it. I put it out of sight and out of mind; and conveniently forgotten. Now it’s happening again. Apparently KZfaq deletes comments and censors conversations. Are including quotes from the Bible illegal and a violation of KZfaq’s community standards? If you listen closely to what he's saying and how he says it, long enough and don't buy in to the narrative of the media. You'll soon figure out that: -Elon is not only smart but is interested in- and knows far more than just business or technical design. He reads a lot and listen to a bunch of podcasts about history, psychology, politics, physics and much more. -His motives stretches far further than his own life. He knows that his life is finite and wants to use it to further humankind. -He is one of the deepest thinkers of our time. -His motivation stems from a deep desire to make the positive things from sy-fy come true because he finds it exciting but he also fears the possibility of negative things that humanity could face. Even the stagnation of technological development. I'm automatically sceptical of people's motives, especially if they are rich. Because most of them are mostly interested in furthering their own interests. But Elon is far different from most of them, maybe because he has aspergers. The only personal interest he has is that he wants to be remembered for the good he has done. Like the great figures as Henry Ford, Edison, Wright, Bell, Deere and Babbage.

Elon did not pioneer electric cars. He did not even start Tesla. But he DID push so hard that he is the reason for them now. I live in California and I can tell you we finally have enough options that we don’t need Tesla anymore, which is good, the market needed choice in order to succeed and now we have it. In my area it seems like every 10th car on the road is an EV, Teslas still dominate but we don’t need them anymore. Yesterday I saw a Rivien charging at a Tesla super charger. But the fact is Elon is a disbursed human being, there is something seriously wrong with him and he is done in the public eye. That’s why Tesla sales are in the toilet. That’s not going to change. Robotaxi and FSD and robots is an absolute joke. Tesla - financial wise - is finished.

Society is a purely technical construct, not a political one. It's the scientists and engineers that make your world better, not politicians. There is no Republican or Democratic way to build an A/C for your home, or a battery for your car, or a motor... to purify your water, or manage your waste.. etc. We need ENGINEERS at the helm to ensure public safety. I have a dream that one day the world will wake up from the current nightmare and realize that we are living in a technical reality. We can live in a society that does not require money in order for you to exist. Because our means of production is so efficient that money is no longer relevant as a means of accounting.

Elon may not like oil and gas, but his rockets aren't ready for all electric nor are the planes he needs to travel in. I think the majority of people don't particularly care for oil and gas, but realize that until everything can realistically work with all electric, oil and gas need to remain available and not artificially suppressed to push an all electric agenda which causes inflation.

I have not had a quote from my insurance company but I'm afraid it will go up dramatically. If I buy the safest car in the usa, my insurance would go up dramatically... that's confusing but I think it will go up. Dang, I want one so bad.

I’m a EV guy I love them I’m speaking about the sticker price as of now NO THEY ARENT AS CHEAP AS YOU ICE cars not for nothing any new car you buy YOUR NOT BUYING ANYTHING FOR IT LOL they also come with warranties so I’m not sure what you meant buy maintenance. I lease all my trucks and have never once needed to buy or get anything for those trucks besides 2 oil changes that are free

I got a hybrid car and I love it, it is important to have choices, the power grid is to fragile to be trusted, a hurricane, a snowstorm, a thunderstorm can take out the power grid for weeks or months, you need options, the reality is that electric cars are good for local travel, but for long distances you need gasoline, this applied to houses too, I got the power grid, solar panels, no batteries because if you need climate control like air conditioning you will drain the batteries quickly or you need to have a lot of money invested in batteries, I got a diesel generator for emergencies with a tank good for 20 days, but I also have a gasoline generator as back up of the back up because in a big emergency the government will limit access to diesel for trucks, hospitals and government agencies only to keep the infrastructure running, gasoline is the only fuel available after 30 days, I speak from experience, hurricane Maria devastated my island and I was 90 days without power, and let me tell you, in a big emergency the government will not have the capacity to help you, you are on your own.

@@BrunoHeggli-zp3nl Prius was an interesting case -- not really designed as an "Electric" anything, at least as the intent. It was designed and sold as a "Clear(er) Air" vehicle. Sort of sin indulgence vehicle so Toyota could make large (and profitable) land yachts, and keep a fleet average quota. The big deal was that it would turn off the gas engine while slow or idling. (Think LA / Calif "traffic jam" driving). Since it also burnt much less gasoline in doing so -- it became wildly popular during the 2nd Gulf/Iraq War when gasoline went over $4 per gallon. Some folks started "hacking" the Prius to pre-charge the Battery, which was a popular in-town use -- since you could go up to 35 mph before the gasoline engine would kick in. More serious plug-in hybrid was the Chevy Volt that came out a couple years later. It runs with pre-charged Electric about 40 miles, and newer ones did about 55 for newer ones. I have an older used one (11 y.o., now) I have used as my daily driver for about 6 years. It does about 100 mph (really 134, but US model has a limiter). I know this because I still have the traffic ticket from playing around on rural highway. ;)
