I know it is more impactful to call it a dictatorship, but this is a case of state/media impartiality, corruption and propaganda, which in all honesty have been common through all democracy's history.

I remember a comment from the PM of one of those Eastern Block nations explaining how comedy is the best tool against authoritarianism because it deligitimizes them in a way that cannot be construed as aggression. It is a gross simplification that dictators can do what ever they want. Dictators do what ever they can get away with. The path to dictatorship is not theough oppression, but through tolerance of intolerance. When you excuse the state's behavior and allow the state to expand it's authority, you allow dictators to take hold. Comedy works because it disarms people's minds. The populist side of authoritarians requires the apathy and jingoism of the population to excuse it's hypocrisy. This was something the left used to champion... up until they got control of the levers of power. Suddenly, they've sided with Henrey Kissinger. Mocking them is the best way to expose them to the sheep who reflexively turn away from such messages. A documentary highlighting the hypocrisy of the mainstream media will not be received by mainstream audiences. But a comedy skit on the same subject has the potential to reach apolitical audiences who otherwise would never see it. Thus, comedy is a fantastic tool for breaking dictatorships.

That is about it. Hell, it doesn't even need to be oppressive or overly authoritarian (what you said about "you can't move"), although dictatorships commonly have those traits. The thing is, all this corruption, this oppression, this bias, this "cage", as you say, is not even a dictatorship-exclusive, and it can happen (and it happens) in our democracies, and that is exactly the point I think it is important to say and a lot of people don't see. A lot of people falsely say "this is a dictatoship" when in reality they should say "this is overly corrupt and unfair" and they would be completly right.
