This is a story about a woman on the verge of death from tuberculosis. She was a hardened sinner that had no interest in confessing her sins and even threw a vase at St. Joseph Cafasso. Not even he, the priest of the gallows, could change her mind. Only St. John Bosco, cunning as a fox, managed even to approach her deathbed. We will recount their incredible conversation in this episode.

Too bad confession isn't well-supported in many parish churches! In my local church, it's seldom mentioned (and few receive it), yet everyone rushes to communion. I tried to address this with the parish priest, but was politely stonewalled. Thank you for your work, as it helps make up for what is missing in American churches. May God bless His priests!

I have had similar experience with regard to confession and Holy Communion here in London, UK.

I am so saddened to see people going to communion giving great offense to God because they have not gone to confession first. The dark side is behind the keeping away from confession of Catholics yet pushing people to unworthily consume the Body of Christ without their awareness of what they are doing.

In my local Catholic parish they have confession Monday through Friday before mass in one of the Catholic churches. Sometimes there are 2-3 priests and 1 priest will often remain at confession even during mass so everyone that wants can go to confession. There is also confession for about 2 hours before mass on Saturday in another Catholic church in the Parish. There will often times be 2-3 priests listening to confession and often times 1 priest will remain even during mass so everyone who desires to go to confession can go. During certain periods (example before Easter, before Christmas, etc) a priest will finish hearing confessions after mass too. I am so grateful to God for this blessing. It saddens me that not every parish has this.

I've been trying to write a letter to my local parish priest I want to offer my assistance in anyway that would allow him to visit the local nursing home on a Sunday rather than send a lay person who can't hear confession or offer a blessing to the sick. I don't know how to word it correctly or if I should even write it in the first place.

There are people who wage a spiritual battle for decades and who go to hell and people who at the last minute, because they are afraid, confess and go to heaven. In fact, it's like the lottery, if she hadn't had the 'luck' that Don Bosco came through... she would be in hell!

The parish Priest has much to suffer from women--------they yak incessantly and often use the Priest as a sort of shoulder to cry upon-----I pity the poor Priest.
