Have never seen the Hitachi 800 class, thank you. My father was of the steam/deltic era, fitter engineer, so the Mallard, Flying Scotsman etc. Served 43 years (WW2 RAF/Spitfire), but tragically died of asbestosis. Our holidays started with a train ride, and I loved it, as I went on many trains. RIP

Stunning quality under all light conditions!!! Special moments for me at 4.50 where tow eras of the British railways meet, the opening with that beautiful Japanese wonder, the screaming Paxman power cars at 11.15 and the roaring pair of 37s with the Network Rail train. I miss the UK.

Thank you. I use a tripod when possible; however, some stations have rules prohibiting the use of tripods so some of my videos are handheld.

Very good video - thanks for posting it. I saw lots of overhead wire, but only spotted one electric loco - rest were diesels. I wondered why?

Thank you for watching. Generally, I only film freight trains, with occasional exceptions. Electric locomotives on freight trains at Doncaster are quite rare; however, electric locomotives on passenger trains is quite a common occurrence at Doncaster. These were not featured in the video, which is why there appears to be a dominance of diesel locomotives.

Thank you for watching. According to numerous sources, the carriages had been at Healey Mills for emergency services to undertake training exercises on. It's clear that they were vandalised to a high extent prior to this event, though.

Thanks for watching. At present, you do not require platform tickets at Doncaster. This could potentially change in the near future with the introduction of ticket barriers.

I honestly don't understand the point of the 5-car 80x trains. Not once can I say I've been on an intercity train and thought "Gee, this train could use fewer carriages!"

I agree with your opinion. Presumably, the 5-car 80x trains will be used on services from London to slightly less demanding locations, or perhaps used on the major routes, but doubled to create a 10-car formation.

Pain in the arse for passengers moving along the train to find a seat. Hopefully , the middle two driving cabs could be removed and then have an eight car train similar to the existing HSTs
