Dave could truly be self effacing. But...by the good ones. Not by the nitwits. My impression, and I grew up nearly alongside of him in the same part of our great country in the nearly same years...he would accept criticism from the ones who truly cared about him or loved him and were in. He knew where he stood. Not so well, in a way. An well acclaimed and asknowledged star, if only a talk show host. And Johnny Carson set the standard. Shows and people made and broke on the show. It must have been stressful. But, as with Bonnie and others, they and he knew where the stuff started and it stood. A lot of it was BS. But some of it was truly fun.

Wow! I didn't know about her, either, until today. She's great! It's difficult to imagine how a show she was in could ever have been canceled. She builds such a rapport with Mr. Letterman, they're a joy to watch. I get the feeling that just about anybody who spends any time in her presence comes out of it genuinely with new best friend. What a powerhouse!

@ Don Giller... ..THANKS, DON ! 😁 ..I finished watching your Bonnie Hunt collection, and it made me smile from beginning to end ! ..Bonnie wasnt as crazy and zany as Amy Sedaris (and her imaginary boyfriend, Ricky), but your collection made my day ! (..plus, it was posted a few days after my birthday, so it made an excellent birthday present, too...) 😁 ..it's nice to know that Bonnie was quite comfortable calling Dave, 'Honey', and Dave actually seemed quite comfortable hearing her say it... ..after such an excellent project, I have a question... ..I tried to find out the info on Google, but I couldnt find an answer to my question... ..I was wondering how many times Ellen Barkin appeared with Dave... I can find only about 5 or 6 appearances of her on Dave's show on other sites.. ..the trouble is....most of those posts are very poor quality... so... ..if it isnt too much trouble, I thought I'd ask you about posting some Ellen Barkin videos... ..but -- as always -- I'll leave it for you to decide... ..if she only appeared a handful of times, then seemed to drop off the face of the Earth, I was wondering if you could post them.. if she was a steady regular, I'll leave it to you if you think it's worth posting all of her appearances....or not... ..either way, I'll understand... ..just thought I'd suggest it, that's all... ..so, no matter what you decide, keep making every moment count; continue to take care of yourself; and be sure to 'enjoy every sandwich'... ..Thanks, again, for the Bonnie Hunt collection ! ..your time and trouble were worth it ! (..as I'm sure 95% of your viewing audience will agree !) 😉 ..Thanks, again, Don....and stay cool... 😎

Pros! 7:30-7:45 Dave gives a 'uh!'; Bonnie reads that he needs to go to break and backs off her next story. Dave gets the big laugh to get out of the segment. As they go to commercial, Bonnie looks at the segment producer's notes on Dave's desk to see where they are. Two pros who know the job.

@@dongiller Ordinarily it wouldn't be that remarkable, but as the compilation shows, Dave seems to have had a singularly close & friendly relationship with Bonnie, which is saying a lot, as many guests have remarked on how he doesn't like to socialize off-camera with them. The degree of closeness one sees here seems to be much stronger than one detects from his interactions with other guests, making the question that much more puzzling.
