A lot of N64 games were like that. They played perfectly fine in casual play, but if you pushed against the game's physics even a little bit they just give way. Zelda: OOT is another good example

It was that period of time where the 2D games were arguably better than the 3D games... I know I preferred donkey Kong as a side scroll, looked nicer, played smoother

@@sosomadman Yeah, cuz in the period when games like Super Mario 64 and OOT came out everyone was too busy playing their 2D counterparts instead. What era did you live through?

I wish that they would keep all of the actual content the same as the original, including the physics and the movesets and everything, but just remaster it, yeah. Get rid of any input delay or undersensitive controls, lag issues, stuff like that. This game couldn't run on an N64 game cart without the expansion pack. I'm playing on emulator recently, and it crashes at least once an hour and the further i get into the game, the more often it happens. This would not be happening if it was a remastered version designed for modern hardware

+RocketPawnch Much of the game feels like busy work. But on the plus side, there is so much to collect that finishing the whole game is a serious achievment.

bit of advice when it comes to speedrunning, they usually choose games they love to play so much they know all the ins and outs. runners love to make fun of the flaws in games they run because A. they're silly and need mentioning or B. just to tease

+isbilen1000 I think by now it's a common gag at SGDQ/AGDQ (pretending that you're playing the game normally while attempting to glitch it the fuck out) so you just roll with the joke and everything's good.

+Templarfreak None. But having save states is like doing a segmented run and that takes the risks and such, so therefore no save states allowed.

Not really. Because if you save and die afterwards you would still have to start over from the beginning of the level, some flags reset and it does lose time whatsoever. If you savestated during a run you can just scrap all your mistakes and try again.
