Expansion pack fact: It enables the lighting that you see in the game, DK64 features vertex lighting that is similar to Perfect Dark which also requires the expansion pack. The rumor about the expansion pack fixing a bug in the game in the last stage of development is not true, a DK64 dev has since clarified that the expansion pack does infact make the lighting effects in the game possible.

it fixs the freezing up. trust me. i don't doubt that it helps with lighting, but my game used to constantly freeze up on me and it stopped doing that once i put in the expansion pak.

For those that don't know the backflip lore: Connor75 once choked a world record DK64 speedrun on the final input. Instead of pressing B in the crouch for the Primate Punch, he pressed A. He explained it himself at 2:03:23

My favorite childhood game. Got it when I was 10 yo, with zero english knowledge and no internet around me. It was fun to discover everything in this game just by exploring and learning the mechanics. A truly masterpiece imo. The only thing that was a bit overwhelming was the collector side of the game. Every goddamn banana, blueprint and coins for every single one of the characters was a little too much when I was a kid haha

One of Rareware’s finest collectathons next to Banjo-Kazooie. This game is fantastic and I hope DK64 eventually comes to the Switch, amazing run Connor!

I remember, I was actually racing a friend of mine in the dk64 randomizer, when he pointed out that dk64 had a shocking amount of viewers on Twitch. It was something crazy like, over 60k. It was surprising at first, until he mentioned that it was being run at gdq. Nothing really special to the story, just interesting, I completely forgot to check this out before, so I'm glad to finally see the run

Absolutely loved this game as a kid but came back recently and just couldn’t work with the controller and camera I’d definitely kill for a remake lol Great speedrun!

The game was hot garbage when it first came out and it's aged incredibly bad, obviously, but it makes up for it by being an awesome speedrun, so we have that at least

That’s my favorite castlevania. Man I’ve been on such a kick lately. Can’t wrap my head around the fact that as Carrie, I found her secret pillar on the platform in her level after castle keep, I just never knew to throw holy water on the pillar before breaking it!

Agreed, it's only really funny when it's very short and exaggerrated and clarified immediately, DK64's setup is so long that it isnt funny having them drag on the bit for like 10 minutes when I'd rather hear why they're doing what they're doing. Same thing happened last time someone ran DK64 and it was just as unfunny and annoying. Runners PLEASE do not do this again the next time DK64 is in GDQ
