David Wise has said in interviews that he was inspired by Iron Maiden for this song, so this very well could be a version that was playing in his head when writing it.

That’s sick. Maiden was the inspiration for so many video game soundtracks that helped shape/warp my musical tastes from that point on. When I finally migrated out from under a rock and started listening them to them in my 20s, it was the musical equivalent of running into a parent or grandparent that you never knew existed, but you look and act exactly like.

Just beat Donkey Kong Country for the first time in years and during the final boss fight, I had the thought that the level soundtrack was a perfect candidate for a metal cover. You sir, did not disappoint. Such an amazing cover!

So many metal covers on youtube I'm like "fff this starts out all sweet and melodic, then goes way too heavy" This song actually DOES that deliberately, so it was perfectly suited, aaand this performance actually retained some excellent purity throughout, so goood job.

Allot of modern metal are just shitty chugga chugga bands. Probably partially why. There are still some modern bands that prioritize melody and hooks like these songs.

MY CHILDHOOD! I still have such fond memories of sitting around playing the DKC trilogy on SNES, and I distinctly recall the first time I saw my older sister get to K. Rool, and the fake-out ending. I jumped so bad when he got back up, and it's hilarious in hindsight. Really cool to hear the pit-opener doing a metal cover of one of my favorite songs from the DKC trilogy!

The first time I ever heard this song was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And honestly, I somehow ran into it so much that I felt like it was overplayed, and I ended up actually not liking it. The part where you have that break where you chug a bit on each of the chords in the progression gave me a huge flashback to one of my old band's songs. Really did not expect that. Awesome cover of one of the coolest DK Country 1 songs! What if you had a fakeout ending though? XD
