One of the saddest things ever to happen to Donna is in Turn Left. Donna is left hopeless, the only person she talks to is her own mother, and when Donna spoke her mother never replied except once. "I guess I've always been a disappointment, haven't I?" And her mum replies: "Yeah." That is the only thing she replies with and it tears my heart in two, I will always love Donna.

I loved Donna for a few reasons: 1. She wasn't in love with the Doctor. Their relationship was strictly platonic. 2. She called him out on things and saw his need for a companion right from the start. 3. I could relate to her. I mean, who wouldn't feel small in comparison to time and space? 4. Barbara was the one who really shaped the Doctor's character by challenging the first Doctor and making him consider others. Jamie would often challenge the second Doctor and Zoe regarded him as being "nearly as intelligent" as her. Liz questioned the third as a fellow scientist; Jo would argue morality with him and Sarah Jane treated him with hostile suspicion in their first story together and demanded he prove his trustworthiness.

I know people who hated her cause she was "annoying" and "rude" but... She felt so much more real and human than any other character in the whole show (save for Wilf). Her mother was emotionally abusive, she lost her father, she had a shit job as a temp in a company that didn't give a damn about her.. She felt like so many people can't help but feel: small and unimportant and useless... until the doctor came and you really see what a difference he makes in her life. Suddenly she's the most important woman in the universe, whizzing about time and space saving planets and going on adventures having the time of her life. And then she's forced to forget all of it and go back to her miserable, worthless existence. It still breaks my heart to think about it...

That moment when the Doctor realizes that she really doesn't believe she's special in Journey's End, when he says she really doesn't believe she's worth it, just kills me. (For me) Donna was unquestionably the best companion of the 2005 series. She was incredible, she was passionate about doing whats right, she was hilarious at the best of times and she was the most important girl in the universe. The best parts of it all was that she pulled off such a brilliant storyline all without the element of romance between them (like majority of companions). Her ending was painful for me too see but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. So glad you did a Donna video, i absolutely love your stuff! I really want her to come back. and not in a full episode where she remembers again, because that would overuse it and it probably wouldn't work again. but I just want her to come back randomly in an episode where the doctor is walking in the street with her current companions to go fight some alien invasion or something and then donna bumps into her and apologises, just carries on her day. and the doctor says sorry back before turning around and realising. and staring after her. and she stops in the street and stares after donna, who's probably chatting away on the phone, and then her current companions are like 'doctor? are you ok, who was that?' and the doctor replies, 'donna' and the companions, yaz or someone, says 'who's donna' and the doctor's like 'oh..someone brilliant,' still staring after her. before turning around and getting on with saving with the world.

Donna was without a doubt my favourite companion. She gave the loneliest doctor, Ten, true companionship - something he hadn’t had in years, perhaps only in the Master. He believed in her and slowly but surely she started to believe in herself. She would stand up to him when she thought what he was doing was wrong, she treated him like anyone else and I think that was so important for him and his growth as an individual. I would argue that while Doomsday with Rose broke his heart, losing Donna was even worse. Not only did he have to strip her of her memories of him and their time together, but he also had to make her the same as she was before they met - the Donna that thinks she’s nothing, the Donna that thinks she’s stupid. When in reality she was one of the Doctor’s most cherished friends, if not THE most, and the most important woman in the entire universe. Her story was so tragic. She will never be forgotten.

As much as I love Moffat as a writer, Davies era of companions always felt the most real. They were just like us, usually a normal job, everyday problems (moaning parents, not much money, lonely), wasting life away thinking nothing is ever going to happen until they bump into the doctor, and slowly he makes them see just how special they really are. I loved Donna and the friendship she had with the doctor and was heartbroken to see her forget it all. At least Rose and Martha could remember and knew how important they were, whereas Donna believed for a moment, just a moment, that she was special and then had it ripped away.

Donna will forever be my favourite companion, her chemistry, albeit platonic, was the best I've ever seen in the show. She was such a relatable and fiery character, and her ending at the end of Series 4 still brings tears to my eyes.

I was rewatching her episodes recently and only now just released the audacity with which Sylvia tells The Doctor to leave when he brings Donna home after losing her memory, and just why. It wasn’t her normal audacity at him, like “wtf are you doing here, whenever you’re around there’s trouble get lost” but more of the fact that the whole time Donna was with him she’d been lying to her about where she’d been and the day Sylvia finds out the truth, is not only not from Donna but she can never even mention it to her own daughter. And is also the same day that’s the saddest day of her daughter’s life. So it’s way more emotional audacity than just “get out of here you”

This made me cry. I love how Donna and the Tenth Doctor never had any kind of romantic chemistry (aside from their "married couple" running joke). It was an entirely platonic relationship built on trust and respect. I adore Donna Noble, and I honestly couldn't pick my least favourite episode of that season.

Donna Noble is absolutely one of the best companions, because she was REAL. She was just like the rest of us, and showed it so many times. And in the end, she showed just how amazing she truly was. She may not have been my favorite companion, but if anyone dares to claim that she is not a good companion, they clearly don’t know anything about this show.

Donna was incredible. She was such a good friend to doctor. At first we see only simple annoying woman but then her character opens so good. I honestly think her ending is the worst of all companions. Others at least had memories, and Donna... Nothing. It's heartbreaking. But I'm still happy that she existed.

This came into my feed after seeing the trailer for the new special with her and 10....and I damn near cried. Donna was truly one of THE best companians because of her impact on not only the doctor, but as he said, countless star systems. All the while not thinking she was worth any of it. She is truly the most relatable and heart felt to me. A woman who just wanted to see more of the universe and in turn be something more.

Donna is one of the best because she brought the best out of the doctor just by being a friend. No forced romance. Just a strong character who may be a big dim in the beginning but could bring out such good things in the doctor and get as much in return.

Donna was the most important for one simple reason - compassion. She was there to ground the Doctor when he was almost lost to despair. Just being that person to make the loneliest person in all of creation not feel so lost, it can save someone's world. We take such things for granted, that shoulder to cry on, that voice of caring, that presence that just reminds you to hold onto something.

I think the thing that made Donna unique was unlike the other companions in NewWho-Rose, Martha, the Ponds, Clara, Bill- she wasn't really clever in the standard sense. She didn't keep up with the Doctor in that unrealistic way the other companions did, or we as Whovians did, she just acted like a normal person which made her more relatable. Underneath the loudmouthed sassy passionate persona was someone that didn't realize that being normal doesn't mean you're not special. Being special comes with experience. Take the Doctor, he was the TimeLord equivalent of a college dropout, and with experience became the stuff of legend. In the end that's why this show is so relatable: it shows normal people becoming something more and better

When it was announced the Catherine Tate would be the new companion I was horrified. I thought her overbearing, bombastic attitude would dominate the show, and was expecting a decline in my enjoyment. By season's end, I was devastated she was leaving. Without a single shred of doubt, the best companion of the revived Who. Her character development was done so brilliantly. And as the main character in Turn Left, left no doubt her acting was as good as it gets. Turn left will remain my favourite episode, just for her sublime acting. And honourable mention to the scene in Fires of Pompeii, "That's the choice Donna, it's Pompeii or the world." Her change of demeanour at that point, and understanding of exactly what being the Doctor actually means, brilliant! At the end, to see her being the bombastic, overbearing Donna again was to reinforce why I still hold her up as how a companion should be. Well done Catherine, and we will never forget the most important woman in the universe, Donna Noble.

I got seconds in and I needed to pause to prepare myself. Yup, constant blobby tears. I love Donna. There's just no way she's not out there right now, the Doctor Donna, with her big beautiful heart, mind, and kind soul. Every part of her is too clever to not have fought through and found a solution herself, especially when we think about how freaking often that firewall would go off. *shivers* There's a dark but hope filled headcanon I have surrounding that. Anyways, this was so perfect and moving. Thank you!

She will always be my favorite and I will forever cry for her. I relate to her the most, she’s so much more than what she presents to be at first. So layered and getting to know the different sides of her and how big her heart really is. Yes the doctor made a huge impact in her life but the same could be said the other way around. She saved him in more ways than she knew, she saw what he needed and she wasn’t shy to give it to him straight and unfiltered. She wasn’t a companion, she was his equal, she provided what he lacked. Yes he is so much more intelligent than her but she was more perceptive, understanding and compassionate. She was clever and very insightful. I loved their relationship they were the best of friends and they complemented each other well. I always admired that despite her believing she was nothing, she commanded her presence. She was not easily ignored and she was headstrong

I saw this in my recommendations and immediately I teared up. Her story was the saddest one. She just wanted to travel the universe and be with the doctor, as real companions. At the end, she eventually believed that she was special, she knew she was important. But then she had to forget everything she had done for the universe. After all, she still thinks she's nothing special, even though she saved the universe. Donna deserved better.

One of the things that hurt the most was when I was reminded of Donna Noble when the 12th was going to wipe the memories from Bill and she stopped him for a moment and said, "But Imagine, Just Imagine how it would feel if someone did this to you!" That was both a foreshadowing of the time that the Dr brought Clara back to life and the time in his past when he had to erase Donna Noble's memories.
