In this video Donna Summer sings "Last Dance" maybe for the first time live and before official release. Also a version of "The Way We Were" more "straight" than usual ( and more ).

Some people say Madonna was the first female "singer" to conquer the world and to have "paved the way" for the future ones. Sorry, but Donna Summer (and other great ones) did it first.

Madonna was the first to create a system where sociopaths and 4th rate actors are depicted as singers and musical artists when they don't have any skill in art music or anything .. she didn't pave anything she soiled a path really talented women created

Her catalogue aside, this concert establishes her a bonafied star even pre "Live and More" Those of us who got " Live and More" were only exposed to what this Diva had been doing well over seas and intimate club theatres. This is real! It is what proves that she is in fact a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, with the likes of Aretha and other greats. Phenomenal! Simply Phenomenal!

Damn! Love This! Proof *Donna* *Summer* was at the top of her game before L.A. tried & successfully molded her into a *Disco* *Queen* . Look at her exuberant confidence and concert crowd holding stage presence already established by 1977! Bet that's young *Giorgio* *Moroder* right behind her on the Keyboards as well. He has his own legendary story to tell. Hope there's still plenty of you left who remember and ate popcorn in the movie theaters when Giorgio teamed up with *David* *Bowie* to do the OST Soundtracks for *Cat* *People* in 1980. You see how Donna danced to her smash hit _"Love to Love you Baby"!_ Chick looked like she was giving birth (such sensuality). Sho' made me think of *Elvis* *Presley* on the *Ed* *Sullivan* *Show* a little earlier when he was barely allowed to wiggle his finger. I still have my Donna Summer LiveConcert Double-Cassette that has similar songs. I beleive she mentions her Daughter on the cassette, so it must have been a later year date.

What a great find - a full concert from her pre-Once Upon A Time days! My seven highlights, for longtime Donna Summer fans: a rare live version of "Take Me" (4:30); a beautiful live (also rare) rendition of "Can't We Just Sit Down and Talk It Over" (8:20); one of the first live performances of "Last Dance" (19:05); a fine rare live performance of "WInter Melody" (32:36); one of her best early live versions of "Could It Be Magic" (37:53); one of the earliest live version of "I Feel Love" on KZfaq (49:05); and a person-by-person introduction of the orchestra - the same Michael Warren Orchestra she would use in the Live and More Tour. What's especially amazing is how good the sound / vocal quality is from this 1977 recording! No remastering = very close to the experience you would have had watching from the audience in 1977. There are some minor flubs (some might be the first live performances ever of these songs) and regrettable tape skips, but overall, take the time to watch it all. Not only will you enjoy hearing Donna, you'll get to see her dance and move on stage more comfortably than in later years when she "toned it down". Great stuff!

Viareggio (Italy), La Bussola, September 10th,1977. This was claimed to be her first ever European show ! The first date of a very very long Italian tour. I know that on October 26th she was still in Italy where she did big theatres but also small discotheques in small towns. I don't knuw how many shows she actually played but I do remember that many people complained about the very high cost of the tickets. From Italian TV, not the complete show.

We lost a great talent when we lost her. Even the lyrics of her songs were so touching. Like Our Love,,, Sometimes when your gone, I don't know why, I feel the simple need to sit and cry...I mean, who hasn`t felt like that at least once? Im a man and I have,lol. Or On The Radio where she sings,....It must have fallen out of a hole in your old brown overcoat, they never said your name but I knew just who they meant.... Anyone could have had a hole in their jacket, and we all have heard something and knew just who it was that was being referred to, so it would relate to anyone,lol. Her music had such a uplifting beat, the lyrics were real, sometimes very sexual, but real, not all this arrogant, beg for me, I got attitude trash they are singing today. Most songs today are so shallow and narcissistic sounding, I cant even listen to them all the way through. Ironic, she would sing songs about missing someone, and referred to older things in life,(that`s considered being weak now days) yet still today, I find her sexier and more desirable than any young woman singing in pop today. I miss her, but I`m very thankful for what she did leave us.....
@NYCgirl9278 жыл бұрын
+OLD BAY Very true. Songs that reflect a feeling or memory shouldn't be dismissed. I loved the music of the 70s & I'm not ashamed of it. I don't like todays music (at least most of it). Donna was a sexy lady & even though she tried to turn it down after she married & had her last 2 kids. Donna was a beautiful soul & I miss her & her music. I saw her in concert a few times & she was great. I'm going to see her husband Bruce Sudano May 18th in NYC. Continued good listening...

I agree with you. The two women are my favorite singers. Whitney and Donna have alot in vocal common. Donna Was a more adventurous in her music and Whitney was a more electrifying performer. They would have been an interesting duet had they both been at the height of their careers at the same time. Think No More Tears with Whitney rather than Barbara. Would have been amazing!
