This is the same Argo but 5+ years earlier when I borrowed it. I got my hands on it again this year in april and resrored it. Haven't had the chance to get back to swamp again though.😛

@@DonnDIY Thank you for correcting me on the timing of the video. Spend time in my youth, destroying beaver dams to prevent the destruction of farm land. So, I know how pesky those little determined creatures can be.

It turned into work quite fast since the ARGO moved so well in the mud. Thus there wasn't enough mudding. :D

back in 2002 i priced one liqid cooled 8x8, with winshild and the canvas cab, it was $10,000 cnd, heater unit was extra 500$ but i would have just picked up a bus heater unit, and plumbed it in, 10,000 was the same cost as the biggest 4x4 ATV that gose 80mph but cant go any were you need it too moose hunting or in snow, the 18" wide tracks were $2500, you can get the 18" mud tracks, the 14" bush tracks or the 26" snow tracks, not many people were buying them so the price was good, but the last 7 years many been buying them and the price shot up to $20,000 cnd like 100% incress from 2002, i was going to buy it back then because it was ether buy it or pack in moose hunting, and as my boat, they are grat to fish out of and the lakes you can get into.. as i had broke my back and i have poor blood flow in my legs and i get cold and dont know it, and walking into winter cuts or even just walking into places you cant drive to i cant walk very far, then i cant get back, but my marriage took a dump and i had to put it on hold, so i have not hunted since 2003 was the last time i went for my 10 days, dont even go for a day trip as i just cant walk, and if i got anything i wouldnt be able to get it out.. with one of these yyou winch the head up unto the back and go, draging it behind you any were.

@arnoldromppai53956 жыл бұрын
argo has 3 different track types, 1 standard track 13" mud tracks i think 18 or19, and snow tracks 24" go any were, they may have changed the widths over the years, but in any case you have to buy the shaft exstention to fit what tracks you want
@arnoldromppai53954 жыл бұрын
the tracks are a very hard and strong Polly Cabernet, like them white cutting boards, ice and snow can pack really tight in them, and it pope it out like ice cubes with a pop pop , they dont break, even with a 6 inch log going in, with the 18" tracks on the 8x8 the ground presser is 1.4 Lbs per square inch of track, with one rider and no load, little to no ground damage, made here in Canada by Argo

Depends how you rate the fuel consumption. By distance in this terrain, quite much, but in operating hour terms it's tiny.

@@DonnDIY there is very litle to them, a engine, gear box and sprockets an double 90 chain, snow mobile bearings and a channel frame, shafts and spindles, as a welder all my life i keep saying i going to build one, but i lost my shop and a ton of money in a bad marriage, i work on lots of them, so i know there not much to them, but i would build with a heaver frame there frames are built far to light, when they install booms or drills on them, they pull the stock frame out and ut a hevy duty one in.. one hour its out and new one in

these 8 wheel argos are byfar better then any ATV on the market, but sadly all the atv today is used for is racing up and down roads and trail, i pulled many a 1200Lb moose out of worse places then that for miles, that an ATV would never do, the sad pard it i priced out an 8 wheel liqid cooled Conquest with in cab heater, and it dont make any were as much nose as this one as ever since i broke my my back i cant take the cold, so it was ether give up moose hunting or buy one of this, in 1988 it was $10,000 total plus tax, today argo had got really gready and for the same unit it is two and a half times more to 3 times more for the same thing, that is sick, the drive train is simple set up, Argo should feel gilty as hell, people that are out door people that end up disabled, these are the only way around, and can no longer afford one
@DonnDIY6 жыл бұрын
The problem with ARGO for me is also the price. The second thing I don't like is the flimsy chain drive and the inability of running in tough conditions without the tracks on. And if one wants to buy the tracks they're not cheap either. So I just have to build one myself.
@googleuser8594 жыл бұрын
Argo isn't a charity unfortunately, they didn't start the company just to help you out. You could look on the secondary market, or work harder and make money to buy one.

I never understood the point of these vehicles? They seem so bulky uncomfortable and slow and of no real purpose? And massively overpriced
@DonnDIY4 жыл бұрын
They're perfect vehicles in the swamp where you move slowly. But I agree on the price - they are definitely overpriced. That is why I'm building one from scratch at the moment.
@SPQR-Z Жыл бұрын
What’s overpriced? My friend has $27+ grand into his side x side, it’s pathetic in deep snow, can’t go in extreme rough/muddy terrain that my Argo can handle with ease and certainly can’t venture into deep water. A Argo is a 4-season amphibious vehicle that can replace a side x side, snowmobile and a small boat. They start at $11k and a upgraded Aurora with tracks is $30ish. It cost big money to play off-road, in the snow or on the water

You killed a beaver dam just for fun? Instant downvote.
