Make that four from five and the first big scalp of Brad Scott's tenure at Essendon.
The Demons had won eight of their past nine at the venue and boasted an impressive 10-5 overall record inside South Australia's sporting cathedral, but had no answers for the Bombers' intensity and class during a 45-minute blitz during the second and third quarters where Essendon kicked seven unanswered goals to set up the 15.14 (104) to 11.11 (77) win.

Let people enjoy what they want, i never understood this need that some people have to push what they enjoy on everyone else? You enjoy soccer, watch it. You prefer the NFL, watch that. AFL is your thing, go for it.

Geez what an abysmal performance by my dees. Essendon came to play and we walked in acting like we'd already won it. There is no place for complacency or arrogance in this comp and it was proven today.

Melbourne competed well at the coalface, but were outworked on the outside. Scott's use of 2 ruckmen really stretched Melboourne as well, particularly as both Philips & Draper had an influence around the ground & up forward. He fully exploited the absence of Gawn, which other clubs may now look at doing until he returns. Essendon have vastly improved in a couple of areas, they may not finish in the top 5 or 6, but will definitely surprise a few of the top teams this season.

@@imalwaysright Two ruckmen against one counts for a lot. Nothing more that Grundy could have done. Oliver & Petracca began to have an influence in the last quarter, but the Dons' on-ballers simply beat them for the contested ball in first 3 quarters.

Most impressive part is they beat Melbourne as they were gaining momentum. Steven May was so well played against by the bombers.

Steven May being comfortably pushed by Langford 4:07 summed up Melbourne. They were flat in the middle, up front, out back. So weird to see Melbourne beaten at contest when they have Trac, Oliver, Viney etc. Bombers were everywhere.

Huge respect for the Dons! They played better and their Goal Kicking accuracy smashed ours! Tough loss for the Dee's, but we'll come back and smash em! Strange umpiring decisions, but overall, good game to the Dons! Go the Dee's!

All sides echo the nature of their coach. Scott is a man of high morals and principles, and he does not mince his words at all. He's a straight, honest, no bullshit type of person, who is highly intelligent and dillengent in all of his duties. Means what he says, and says what he means. Essendon will be the surprise packet of the year and have no ceiling.

Who curates and chooses what goes in these highlights packages? Weird choice of highlights to show, random marks, not many goals from the 3rd quarter shown. For 8 minute videos there's nothing in them.

The problem seems to be that both this game and the port game were tied together in one ticket, meaning a bunch of people had tickets to both but just showed up for their team

Not yet...but we're starting to play committed football with a focus on pressure and defense...our coach is capable and invested and the boys finally have a leader...as Bomber fans, we're just stoked to see genuine improvement
