The dark horse of Eurovision. I had never payed attention to his song until i saw his performance tonight. His humble shy personality got me, such a contrast with his soul and his powerful voice! When he cried i liked him even more. I hope people will vote for him tonight, Dons deserves a place at the finals. Love from Greece!💙

Also, it proved sometimes simple is way to go... Sometimes you don't need to go over the top to make your point sometimes you have to be short, simple and concise... Sometimes all you need is a message to make your point which makes this performance one of my faves...

What a performance! Absolutely nailed his delivery. The fact that he flipped the odds completely shows that people are starting to get it. He's not pandering to the crowd with a flashy show, lack of trousers, or other novelties, he's simply a person with a microphone singing a message for everyone of us who has ever felt unheard. It grows on you and resonates deeper the more you reflect on the lyrics; it's not a depressing song; it's an inspirational one, to love yourself and be a better person for it. I'm hoping that by Saturday people will be singing along to it, like I am, even when I'm just at work or cooking dinner.

Because he's not a female singer half naked on stage singing a bland pop song about "finding yourself after a breakup". That's why the critics said he would have been last. Fortunately people, unlike those "critics", still has some taste in music.

Glad he made it through. It's a beautiful song. You're absolutely right by the way and, I don't know y'all, but I'm getting very tired of all these "wannabe Jennifer Lopez", each of them singing the exact same song with the exact same choreography. It's so refreshing listening to a song that speaks of something else instead of the abused "breakup" theme.

Очень рад за проход Латвии в этом году. В конце он меня так растрогал, когда чуть не заплакал. Хотелось обнять его и сказать "Да в жопу этих букмейкеров! Всё у тебя будет хорошо!". Причём было заметно, что это искренние переживания, в отличие от наигранных соплей Нидерландов. Удачи в финале из Сибири! :)

Listening to this again today, and it never fails to bring me to tears. Imagine going on stage, knowing the bookmakers think you'll never make it. You know you're in the last place, and that chances for making it are low according to odds. He must have been so nervous and sad, because he has truly been underappreciated. And STILL he delivered his performance with excellence. I just want to give him a huge hug, because he truly deserves to be there. Finally, people proved that true artists CAN make it in Eurovision. This performance is what art is.

I’m latvian, don’t live in Latvia for many years, not interested in Eurovision much, never heard his song before, never heard any other song HOWEVER, yesterday watched the semi final and Dons blew my mind and was incredibly impressed with his performance. I am not a Eurovision fan but I must admit - this guy and Israel singer was only who where singing song and not jumping around, screaming, shaking naked ass in tiny underwear and etc. In few words - he had something what Eurovision lost long time ago!

I'm in Australia and couldn't vote but I was so thrilled that he got in. It was such a powerful performance, what an incredible voice. It was steady and in control. I also felt for him when he got emotional at the end, but loved the vulnerability and honesty. I will be voting for him in the final! ❤

Me too! I think it was the emotional delivery! He felt almost "too perfect" or slick before this. Seeing his emotions at the end, but also singing to the cameras more, while still being his poised self, a very good mix. It was very authentic and powerful. I think not having that many male ballads this year helped him. And Mustii being off key/pitch/tempo (which broke my heart). And that bridge in Don's song. Wow. I am worried that Slimane will eat his points tomorrow, but I'll send him some votes for sure!
