@@danielhart7435 Not “limitations,” per say, but “constraints.” While they are certainly almost identical in theory, and even almost by definition, they are actually slightly different, at least in my industry (game design/development.) Industry jargon aside, I think we are in a absolute agreement! NOTHING helps the creative process more than having few creative limitations, but absolutely having constraints to work within, such as budgets, deadlines, and scope. It absolutely DOES back up what I believe you were saying, and I couldn’t agree more. Not only do constraints force creativity through forced ingenuity, but as so many sayings go “art is never finished, only abandoned.” If it wasn’t for the “Account Service/Publisher” folks, who typically may lack in the creative / “acting like a human-being” Departments, who keep projects moving along and on task, I’m not sure how much I / my teammates would EVER get done / released. Although without us, neither would they have a end product or artistic end goal. The Creative/Business balance is always interesting🙂

You know, it's funny. This past semester, for my writing class, I chose to research the topic of Online Public Shaming (on social and main stream media) and the ethical nature therein. I already knew the phenomenon was out of control, but just examining some of the famous incidents was horrifying. There's just no room to examine what's been said or done. If it falls into a category of taboo or violates some social norm that's been predetermined by prevailing groups in politics or society, then the offender undergoes brutal and over-simplistic character assassination while being ostracized. No chance to explain or examine. Just done. Incredibly difficult due to the nature of the internet and social media to defend oneself once the firestorm gets going. Prime example: Justine Sacco tweets in 2013. Taking a trip from New York to South Africa via a few countries. Small Twitter following. Makes a few acerbic dumb jokes and tweets them. Turns off her phone on the final leg of the journey. One person out of her followers retweets her tweets to a larger audience. Next thing, she lands, turns on her phone, and it starts blowing up as she discovers that she's the #1 trending topic worldwide. People taking the piss out of her, throwing ad hominems and labels at her. She loses her job almost immediately when the PR company she works for finds out. Bam, done. Granted, whatever she intended to convey with her jokes, they were worded pretty poorly, but she certainly didn't deserve to lose her job. Maybe a slap on the wrist and a reminder to be careful about what you say on social media. I also read a paper published in an academic journal by a couple of political scholars about the ethical nature of said phenomenon. Great read. Against Online Public Shaming: Ethical Problems with Mass Social Media by Guy Aitchison and Saladin Meckled-Garcia. Dives deep into why they think the act is completely unjustifiable on an ethical level, especially due to the way it's practiced today.

funny thing is. I watch a lot of youtubers ,twitch streamers and popular people and follow most trends. What I see happening is the tribal mob mentality that is created that has always existed in us has moved on to the internet. It work's like waves that hit or miss without looking at what's left of it. Also it comes and goes all the time. One week you could be destroyed and hated and cursed and threatened and a week later people forget , move on , go to another person and the wave continues. It's really crazy but basically our primitive brain that helped us fight and survive by creating a tribe and attacking other tribes to win actually has moved in the technological virtual area where it became a group of hive minds that work in a different ways and create social bubbles that attack each other and they are in the thousands. Ex. Two youtubers could have drama between themselfs and the fans of one youtuber could attack the fans of the other youtuber. Kinda reminds me how dictators have armies in the past it becomes the same here. Really interesting psychological ,social human phenomenon.

1:22 Word.. Why on earth would anyone want to be a teacher these days? The kids can do whatever the hell they want and they KNOW you can't do a single thing about it as discipline of ANY KIND is 100% out of the question or you are *fired* ... All you can do is hope for a good class. But one nightmare kid student could pretty much ruin every single class. What could you do?
@sarcasm-83
@sarcasm-83 Жыл бұрын
To add some TL;DR material: When I was in school we had a school principle who held classes to us and in all honesty, his classes were the best ones... But you know what, he also had the most discipline. If the roudy kids of the class started to act up, he lifted up a huge stapler and asked "TO WHOSE HEAD AM I GOING TO THROW THIS STAPLER?" .. No fucking joke. He also asked "WHO AM I GOING TO HAVE TO THROW OUT OF THE WINDOW?" .. we were in the third floor. On time he also hung a very frequently disruptive student from his backpack to the coat holders... Just lifted him up, put him to hang around there. It was hilarious and he wasn't in danger at any point... but he listened after that. Not one time did he get a single kid hurt, but he HAD THE RESPECT. The intimidation called for respect. He was a fantastic teacher now that I look back and one that I learned most from, despite the occasional "shock". Today, he would be fired the FIRST DAMN COMMENT like that. I think that's insane! I wouldn't ofcourse ever support HITTING kids, but getting kids in line via shit like that.... yeah - why not. Kids and people really - truely - are NOT that fragile or prone to some trauma or whatever. We just AREN'T. Edit: I'm 38 years old, this happened in junior high, when I was about 10 maybe? So 28 years ago. No, he was never fired. There was never an inkling that he would be. It was not an issue. Hell I remember telling these things to my mother at home and laughing how that one roudy kid got hung from the coat hangers today.... World sure has changed. Everyone is SO volatile about offense.... I hate it.

Due process? We live in an age where they tried to impeach a president about 40 times but never thought to come up with an actual crime because all they were interested in was the accusation. If they really wanted to impeach him I think a room filled with lawyers could do a lot better job than that. OJ only had about 12 or 13. Congress has over 400 and that doesn't include all the flunkies. That many lawyers? They knew what they were doing. They actually found a way to turn due process into a means of obstruction and slander wich they draged out for 4 years.

I got the fuck beat out of me everyday and it took decades to start to get over it. it literally destroyed my life for decades. beating your kid doesn't make you a good parent. the problem is parents don't know how to communicate or set boundaries and then blame the kids. if the older generations did such a good job how come there is so many bad parents now. hmm

4:31 LOL I loved Andy so much in Conan... "Glenn Close".. Immediately remembering that Fatal Attraction scene. More talkshows should have a knowledgeable sidekick to just throw good references from the sidelines.

I think Conan mostly have to play the straight guy, his comedy role. And he usually plays it perfectly. That's why he's Bill Burr's favourite host.

It really is a tough situation when it comes to harassment, rape, etc, because often times it comes down to one person's word against another. In our legal system the burden of proof is on the accuser. The accused is `innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.' So, lets say a woman is legitimately victimized but there's no physical evidence. She reports it, it goes to court and the guy ends up getting acquitted. Now, she's not only been victimized, but had to relive the whole thing in court under cross examination, loses anyway and is now victimized, humiliated and probably ends up being accused of making it up. However, we can't just do away with due process because of that. There are women who will lie. We can't just undo a pillar of our legal system because guilty guys get away with it. This is why fathers tell their daughters not to put themselves into risky situations. The argument is "We shouldn't have to worry about it!" They're right, they shouldn't, but you can be right and victimized or you can be safe. I'm all for any reasonable solutions, but in the meantime, be safe.

Bill Burr is raw & honest. He's one of the very few pure comedians left. Although I have a high level of respect for women, no ones accusations should be automatically believed. Unfortunately there are many people who's lives are ruined based off of false accusations which is rarely spoken of.

Why can't social media agree to disagree and dissect the timeline? Because that is too hard, and all these hard working single mothers, and their ideals need to be voiced, whilst the rest of us labour away creating another comfortable building for them to live in! The worst person you can be, will be the person that you teach, the best person you can be will be the future that you create to build people.

Many mothers are not overrated though. Grew up at a time when you sometimes got the belt or a rap on the knuckles or put to the wall by your 4 inch shorter mother because your lippy snottitude was the LAST straw in a very long day she was having. Worst thing about being spanked w a belt... wasn't the anxiety of waiting for it, or the light whoppin... it was then seeing my single mom cry on the porch after. THAT was brutal. She never used the studded belt on me that hung on a hook next to the leather whoppin belt... but it was there... fing Nuclear Deterrent. When she caught me and another snot nosed kid talking shit about another kid... basically bullying him... she made me sit in the the living room, on my hands, with a dry washcloth rolled and put into my mouth. After ten minutes of all the saliva being pulled away I was sorry. After 30 minutes, I was reformed. Have had the pleasure of dating Real Women who don't throw smoke, no drama for no reason, and those are the BEST relationships. Stay who you are and lets see what overlaps. This insecure crap on both men and women's sides is asking for damage. Be yourself and be willing to not be loved by that person. Tho it took me a lot of time to fully embrace it.
