Having ridden Guzzi's for over 40 years, they are reliable, long lasting, and the electrics are crazy ! All of mine ( 6 different models) have exceeded 300,000 miles - one well over 500,000. And they were all still running fine when I sold them.Just keep up the oil and filter changes, and grease the electrical terminals.

Great input. Would the V7 be a good beginner bike? I'm not the tallest at 5' 6" or so and 29.5" inseam. This is why the HD 883 intrigues me with the lower height. I'm really starting to like this V7 however.

@@gerry2893 the man that put me on to the Moto guzzi V7 was quite short man was riding nicely as far as beginner bike I would say yes 744cc around 52to 60 hp torquey but every easy to ride fun good for commute plus a large tank .. under 10k

V7 is great, with the normal caveats. The electrics are just nuts, but seem to work as long as you keep an eye on everything. Chrome is not the best, they need regular good quality oil, vibrate like nothing else on earth, BUT..... 45-60 miles per gallon from a 1000cc, will get you home even if one cylinder packs up, will easily carry 2 plus ALL camping gear you need for 2 weeks or more,can pull a house down and will leave you with a longing in your soul that will never ,ever leave you. Just don't try to race 4 cylinder guys - you will lose. OH, and the ladies LOVE the comfort factor. Even at my age.

Bought the V7iii not long ago. Can confirm 52hp can be fast. They are HILARIOUSLY fun to ride and coupled with the huge gas tank and shaft drive, is an amazing light touring and ADV bike. It leans pretty low, even for a standard, and does everything you want it to. Low maintenance, reliable, and cheap. It is the best beginner bike you can get.

I bought a V7 II last week, and you describe it perfectly, it has character. People talked to me on every stop I made on a long tour. "Havent seen a Guzzi in a while, its beautiful" And the whole power thing is true too, I owned a Duc 998 before and after riding the Guzzi i was like, i dont need the power, this is enough to have fun. I just happened to watch this video on March 15, 2021, then went to the Moto Guzzi website and saw that today is their 100 year anniversary; 15 March, 1921-15 March, 2021. Happy Birthday my dudes.

I have a 1000 SP II that I bought new in '85. She never let me down. I rode several times from Italy to Holland (1100 km) in one shot - 13 hrs straight. Once I had rain for 10 hrs. It was me who needed a break, not the bike. Mechanical contact breaker is a bit of a pain, but cheap and easy to replace and adjust. It will never fail, contrary to some electronics that equip today's bikes (including BMW - which I also have....). Finally, my wife prefers riding the MG over the BMW, and hates my Ducati 996. Enough said.

@@tpv59 They (the big twins) were built to the standard of an industrial engine Terry and featured such things as a distributor shared with the Fiat 500 car, a starter notor that was of a type fitted to a number of saloon cars and available in different makes (Lucas, Bosch, Ducillier etc) and as the sump gave direct aacess to the lower part of the engine oilways etc could be kept clean and filter change made easier. The headlamp was the same as for the Fiat 127 car and the electrical system was very basic (thank God). Oh also the Transmisson universal joint was of a stamdard type as I discovered when myself and the Chief Engineer on a Brittany Ferry changed one (from ships store) en route to Roskoff from Plymouth.

I am picking up my new 2021 V9 Centenario Bobber in just a few days. CAN'T WAIT !! $19,330 AUD - (OUCH !!!) MG's are NOT common/popular here in OZ. (Australia) I test rode one and after about 10 seconds I thought WOW !!!. I MUST buy one! (and I did) Been riding about 50 years and have had 'hundreds of bikes'. Currently 4 bikes. What do you think about the NEW Guzzi's? Better than the old?????? - Have you heard much about them? Any 'advice' about them please? You are experienced about the MG's and I will take on board your comments and views. THANK YOU George, ALL the VERY BEST. Sincere regards.

I have a friend with four different Moto Guzzis, various models. They’re very dependable and one of the easiest bikes for an owner to maintain. Are they the fastest? No but then again are you Valentino Rossi?

My mate rides an 1800cc Goldwing. He sat on my V7ii and went like, "OMG it's light". That 0-60mph was in the fives, which is what the big Goldwing does. Lack of horses? There are a lot of bikes that are quicker but not many as comfortable and as well mannered to ride. What is not obvious from the video is just how well a Moto Guzzi takes bends, because America doesn't have bends, whereas Britain and Europe don't have straight roads. The other thing missed out on is those brakes are Brembo and the front is a top of the range asymmetric 4-pot on a big platter, and yes it works rather well. Supplier to Moto Guzzi since 1966 and just down the road at Bergamo from the MG factory

Jeff Slade I don’t understand why people think America doesn’t have “curves”. Hilarious. There’s more to us that than the flat plains of the Midwest. The reason why we like big engines is because American cities have long stretches of congested freeway with cars “cruising” at 85 mph along with semi trucks all around you. The big engines and weight help a lot for city riders.

Also, places like here in Arizona, I can jumó on the highway, spend two full hours straight climbing hills and be in high elevation with pine trees and ski resorts. It helps to have big engines that won’t overheat from working so much in this heat or get blown off the road by other drivers and trucks.

@@paintup46 ever heard of this little thing called the alps? The guzzi handles them just fine. And it also sits at 85mph all dat long just fine. The US just has big engines because ford, gm and halrey used to be, or still are inn harleys case, terrible at building anything that’s even remotely good i in the engine department.

@@anonym3017 I have, ive seen many videos of people in those mountain highways and they look beautiful. They also look much smaller, the stretches seem much shorter and the roads seem much more tourist oriented, they look like perfect bike roads. Our mountain roads are long and congested with many semi trucks that also travel 85 mph, and getting blown around and tailgated by these guys is no fun. The big bikes feel so much more stable in those conditions.

Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle

I own a 1989 Mille GT!! My Dad bought it new in Beverly, MA. I love it! Never sell it. Will run it till I die, then someone else can run it cuz it’ll still be grunting along!

people will always talk shit on whatever motorcycle you ride. just ride what you like and be happy. I ride a V7 Rough and wouldn't trade it for the world. Moto Guzzis are easy to maintain and you don't see them at every single corner.

I had a used 2007 Moto Guzzi Griso 1100 for a couple years and loved it. Styling is very different from the V7's but I love the way they look, too. I would have kept it longer, it was a blast to ride, but the nearest dealership is five hours away. They might be easy to work on but I'm not particularly mechanical; so I sold it to an eager buyer who has owned several Guzzis and does his own wrenching. Maybe a dealership will open up a little (or a lot) closer. Meanwhile, I'm loving my Triumph Bonnevillle T120.

I can confirm that , I've had My Le Mans for 33 Years now and I will Never part with it also My Wife and My daughters would kill Me . if I hadn't already put Myself out of My own self inflicted misery ! , I love My Guzzi .

It happened to me. I brought my Tuono for service and got a V9 as a loaner. I end it up buying it and now it is my favorite out of the 5 in the garage

After many years of looking at Guzzi's I recently took a V 7 Special for a test ride and said I could not live with this. Found the suspension very harsh. Bought a Triumph Bonneville T100.

@@gordtowsley20 The suspension is very harsh. I even changed the rear shocks, maybe I haven't adjusted them properly but no matter what, i is harsh. I haven't done anything to the front forks. Changing over to the Dunlop tires, I noticed the bike catches the groves on the road unlike the Continentals. The Kineo wheels are about the same weight as the stock therefore, no changes regarding the suspension behavior. There's an Ohlins option in the aftermarket for the front forks but it costs over $3k. They also have the rear Ohlins shocks but I haven't heard from anybody comparing that to the regular shocks. I think trying to make the ride plush is an endless battle, the driveshaft design and dual shocks in the back is a limiting factor.

Sean, you didn't mention that shaft drives require practically no maintenance compared to chains, which have to be cleaned and relubed every 300-500 miles. (Also, the 6-cylinder BMW K bikes are straight-6, not V-6.)

Why would some one buy a moto guzzi? Cause us guzzi riders are just a little bit different! In the 1950s guzzi riders were tagged as being on the " ragged fringe of decent socioety", by an Australian journalists, and this was taken up as the motto. “Societas honestae, limbus pannuceus” I've had several guzzi's, all unique but with the same soul. Where most bikes are the faithful wife, the teen crush or long time love or one night stand, guzzi's are the definitely the temptress, an exotic seductive mistresss.

That V7 MK2 stone has had alot of extras added. Knee pads, flyscreen, headlight, didn't know you could turn traction control off. Rear grab rails too. Nice machine anyway.

I spent some time at the factory back in 1978 when they still had the test track on the roof and saw the MK1 Le-Mans coming straight off the production-line rolling-road, through the doors and around for a couple of circuits..Very Impressive (and the bikes were good too).

Ciao Alberto. Oh I love this place so much including surrounding area and the curvy mountain roads like Passo Stelvio. Came down regularly from Lago di Constanza. Last time in 2011 for 90th anniversary. Moved away from Europe a few years ago but have plans to be back for the 100th anniversary next year. Ciao! 👍

Yes, but, fuel economy is shite compared to other standards. Range is still just over 200mi, where other bikes can get the same distance on 3.7 gal.

my only concern in how it would potentially behave differently is the clutch because if i'm not mistaken the v7 has a dry clutch compared to the majority of motorcycles that use wet clutches

The early BMWs and Moto Guzzis lasted longer with both cylinders in the wind, instead of a hotter back cylinder with the wind blocked by the front cylinder.

Just picked up a 2009 stelvio with 7500km's on it. Had been in storage for 5 yrs. Went from a concours 1400 to a vstrom 650 to this and what an amazing ride. Love the torque and sound

Last year I purchased a demo V7 Stone that had never been ridden for 5995.00! I’ve had a lot of bikes in my life, just about every make, but this one is my favorite. Great video, absolutely accurate presentation! God bless!

I have an 8 year old Moto Guzzie 1200cc Norge. I love it! Comfortable, handles even better than my buddies cool Goldwing, and so easy to adjust the valves on. Great suspension to.

I owned a Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans in 1978/9, felt very relaxed and long legged at motorway speed and handled like the thoroughbred it was on the country roads of UK...

Bought my Guzzi T3 in 83. Traded around my family and back to me. 39 years in my family. I'm rebuilding it now for spring and will never never need another.

I had a v7 Stone, I enjoyed that bike. Now I have a V11 sport with aftermarket exhaust. People always compliment me on how nice the bike looks and sounds. And there are just no bikes like them.

This bike really suits you man, I hope you ended up buying one of these! The exhaust I would definitely swap out for a matte finish exhaust with little circle perforations on it like the sporster 48 so it has litte more personality to the exhaust.

Ahhh yes. Many a moon ago, going across the country on my 1985 BMW R80RT (still have it !). I ended up covered with brown speckles. Not bugs, but trucker chawin' tobaccy & spewin' out the window! Full visors ever since.....

Nice review. But what would be great for people is to see you riding this from the side. For a lot of people with bad backs, joints etc, the relationship between hips, knees, feet and hands is very important. Just a short shot from the take off would be great. Appreciate it, thanks!

Hey Srkcycles you should look out for SWM bikes, they're Italian made (even if funded by a Chinese company both design and assembly is done in house at the SMW plant in Varese) , and inexpensive, ofc they're common herein Italy, look out for some in the US.

I've probably done more than 250,000 miles on guzzis; a couple of years ago i rode a precursor of these from the UK to italy. Guzzis are great and for life!

Back in the eighties Moto Guzzi was Italian for chronic electrical problems. Has that changed? That asked, this is a beautiful bike and I would be proud to rock it based on looks and uniqueness alone.

You can tell the difference between pre Piaggio ownership Guzzis and actual one by the sound. Actual Guzzis sound less aggressive than earlier versions and do not vibrate a lot.

I’m finally buying my first bike in a couple weeks and I found one of these on marketplace. Decided to deep dive on research. And come to find out these bikes are fantastic to get into riding and learning the mechanical sides of things. Really hoping I end up getting it.

I'm buying my first bike. Due to the differences here, would you consider this a good bike to buy as a first cruiser? I just want to take it out to dinners, around town, to work and back.

One of the most pleasant and surprising motorcycle I have driven, was a Moto Guzzi 850 brava. The bike just made me happy, despite it doesn't have a huge amount of power. I have driven and owned supersport bikes as Aprilia RSV Mille and Kawazaki zx9r...But this small light bike had a personality that I responded to. So now I am in the market for a Brava 1100 ABS

My dad had one before he bought his Harley. I took it for a drive once, I was 15, I dumped the clutch and almost wrecked it into my moms flower garden. Once I got it out on the road it was a blast. When my dad was at work I use to sit on it and dream of getting it out on the road again. I dreamt to hard once when I was sitting in it , it fell over and I broke the mirror.

Looks like it’s from the 30s or 40s? I’d say 60s or 70s. : ) Just bought a 2017 Guzzi V7iii. Cool bike. Has a rumble to it that my old Honda CB750 doesn’t have. I guess that’s the v twin doing its thing. It’s gonna take me a few rides to get used to it. I love the looks and the sound.

The only thing that tou have to do often with this bike is the classic valve ser with the 2 connectors. It's a 20 min job on each side and pretty easy but you just need to learn to do it.

There was one in Baton Rouge but the BMW dealer bought it and combined them with MG, Piaggio and Vespa. After a time they dropped the latter and just kept the Beemers. Now Louisiana has no Guzzi dealer at all.

I'm all about guzzi, harley, and yamaha. They're the corn in the Dookie. Own atleast one of all 3. V9 bobber is a cool ride. You should check it out if u find one. If not I'll let u borrow mine. I want to see your opinion on it. Unique af and definitely shows the "Italian Harley" thing.

99.9% sure that headlight isn’t stock. Looks like a Motodemic/JW Speaker Adaptive LED.

This bike is cool, the ones I have seen in the UK have spoked wheels they look awesome. I have near seen wire wheels in the US version.

Great for around town and short 2 lane blacktops and gravel roads trips. Wish that they made one like this in a 1500cc version with 18" fat tall rubber front and rear. That would be perfect for what I need. Closest Guzzi dealer to me is 130 miles away. The other is 183 miles away. I can find a H.D. dealership in any direction @50 mules tops.

Yeah, MOTO GUZZI ! I have a CALIFORNIA III and i drive every year from Cologne Germany to Mandello del Lario at the lake Como in northern Italy, to celebrate the Anniversary of Carlo Guzzis Motocycle factory. Thousends of Moto Guzzi every year in this little town come together to have fun, and in every shop or Restaurant you see old MOTO GUZZIs or other Items or parts of it. And there are so many Enthusiast and Owner of Moto Guzzi that they even allowed to make camping in the Parcs, near the Lake Como. But next Year on the 100. Year Birthday unfortently not, because of fu... Covid 19. What a shame...😡 Greetings from Germany from DANIEL.

I had one of these, traded it for a faster bike and are now looking to buy a new V7 as a second bike because they are the perfect bike for when you don't want to go fast but you still want fun handling rather than a cruiser. And when there is a threat of a little rain shower, they are the perfect bike, with shaft drive no need to worry about cleaning and lubing a chain. Just a comment / question - why are you riding in the moped lane? Get on the center line and ride like a boss :)

Just an update I’ve had the bike for about 8 months and I’ve put about 8,000 miles on it, absolutely love it, my wife loves it so much she wants me to get a new one so that she can have my current Guzzi, was initially disappointed about the lack of aftermarket parts (cough cough Harley) but no matter where I go with it it turns heads.

Jibreel Salaam it’s all about how much self control you have. You can get something like this that is docile and not ‘violent’ in how it rides. Any bike can and will hurt you if you don’t respect it but if you take it easy and grow into it, should be okay!

I jump off from 200hp+ modified Kawasaki ZX14R to Moto Guzzi V7iii 50ani and I love it so much. 2 years of own it, trouble-free bike reliable engine and electricity with shaft drive no need self-maintenance like chain drive. Every parts are durable as you expected from good Japanese automaker. I'm considering to buy another V85TT or Audace.

everyone always chase more and more power...in 1990 100 was big...now we are past 220 and people say more!.... its all stats-on-the-paper bragging...no one use 200hp in the street, my personnal sweet spot is in between 40 to 70.... you can have all kind of different fun in that spot

Honda CX500 flying V was the standard, the Silverwing was considered a baby Goldwing, having twin disc brakes and air suspension.

Enjoy your vids, BMW K-bike isnt a v6 however; inline 3cyl 750, inline 4cyl 1000 & up, inline as in running 'down' the frame, rather than across it, and an integral part of the frame.. 'Kiora' from NZ
