This is pretty much a full reboot Dontai. At the end of last game, Liu Kang became a god and reset the universe before remaking it. Thats why the tournament isn't to the death, Liu Kang's universe is meant to be a more peaceful, better version!

I played the first half of the story on hard mode then I just switched it to medium because I was getting my ass beat and I just wanted to enjoy the story instead of sweating every time I fight💀

it’s cause the characters don’t have their powers yet and their powers are the entire source of the fatal blow, the characters will get their fatal blow later in the story

@ImDontaiGaming mk1 is pretty much a timeline restart so there are so many changes that you can start with this as your first mk game, but the only important piece of information that you need to know is that this is a new timeline made by fire god liu kang. So it's a fire way to make a reboot but also feeling like its a continuation.

Been waiting on it man… I’ve been extremely critical of NRS games story due to them not really introducing interesting new concepts and making dumb villains but this one is genuinely decent. The best one they’ve produced. Lookin forward to seeing the entire playthrough

basically dontai, in mk11 liu kang became the protector of earthrealm & raiden gave him his powers so after beating kronika he became the keeper of time then reset the entire MK timeline but instead of raiden as its protector its liu kang. Thats why everybody is just meeting each other, which another reason is why sub zero & scorpion are best buds for this one

Dontai liu kang reset the timeline in a more peaceful way where things are different for example scorpion and sub zero didn’t use to be brothers so when he says no one has died before he means in this new timeline

Liu Kang was PROBABLY not being entirely truthful about anyone ever being killed. To keep your fighter's morale up for the coming battle, you don't want to tell them your previous champions got brutalized in every way imaginable. But this is just speculation on my part.

Participants died in the previous timeline during the tournament however liu kang has restarted the timeline so he technically didn’t die if nobody has died during a tournament. Liu kang has knowledge of the previous timeline but he wasn’t the protector of earthrealm. He became keeper of time after defeating Shang tsung in mk11 and made his own universe from the very beginning.

Idk if anyones explained it or if youll read this but this game is essentially a reboot. Aspects from Mortal Kombat 9 to Mortal Kombat 11's story do carry over so you might get confused later on in the story mode. Its a reboot solely because of the ending of Mortal Kombat 11 where Liu Kang reset everything.

Ik this was probably answered but I’ll say it anyway. Mk1 takes place after Mk11. If u remember liu Kang restarted the time line reseting everthing and making slight differences. That’s why raiden is a farmer and not a god for example.

Aye dontai since you said you not locked in on the story, it’s videos you can watch to catch you up but I thought you’d appreciate this.. In this new timeline this sub zero is Bi Han,( the sub zero who was killed by scorpion in the previous timeline) and this scorpion is now Kuai liang (which was the new subzero and younger brother of Bihan in the previous timeline)
