In part 2 of Drift Car Dynamics, Chris Forsberg and Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained are back to take a look at the rear of the Datsun 280Z. The car is almost street ready, but the guys need to swap out a few more parts (driveshaft, limited slip differential, suspension mounts & more) to get the car ready to drift.
We would like to extend a big thank you to UTI for sponsoring and letting us crash their campus in Long Beach to do some filming and use their alignment rack (UTI.edu). Also, thank you to Old Crow Speed Shop for letting us work out of their awesome space. www.oldcrowspeedshop.com

Sick, but I wonder why they don't talk about replacing bushings. I saw they had polyurethane bushings going in and those eliminate a lot of body roll which makes the car stiffer so it's easier to kick out. Maybe they don't want to reveal to many secrets?;)
@android6700
@android6700 8 жыл бұрын
+Mason Herrera Well, most of these episodes are based on the suspension geometry. And I imagine many of the parts installed on this Datsun are custom fabricated. They probably wanted to show off all those new shiny bits! (also, on a car this old, bushings are a must! maybe not necessarily polyurethane for the street, but in general, those get worn) but yeah, i wonder if they have some secrets buttons or switches in that car...hehe

Techno Toy Tuning offers the adjustable arms and also has coilovers. Suspension Techniques has sway bars and other companies do as well. I'm not sure about that diff. Since they had an aftermarket mount and a custom length driveshaft it really could be anything. $$$!
