Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZfaq and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!
I want "DON THE SMALL ENGINE DOCTOR" on KZfaq to save you time, frustration and most importantly, MONEY with my HOW-TO videos!

In my case, this longer, more detailed video is what I would need in order to get through such a complicated repair. Just so many steps to do something like this with success. How in the world would you be able to shorten this video much more and still be able to show someone like me all the necessary steps? If a video can be shortened and still show all the necessary steps, then fine. Otherwise, both long and short videos I think are necessary. You’re just so good at what you do that I appreciate them all. Thank you Dony!!👍❤️

I like to see the whole process especially removing the seized pulley. The tips and tricks on what to look for and check is awesome. Hopefully mine goes the easy way but if it doesn’t I know what to do and look for. The length of the video does not bother me. I like the content more than how long the video is. Real world is never short, quick, and problem free. Thanks for taking the extra time to get all the camera shots- takes longer but very instructional.

Don, William Moore here. I have always been interested in small engine repair. Although until the last few years I was a full time career businessman. Finally retired!!! So, now I have time and the desire to learn and understand Small Engine repair. Don I have viewed a number of your videos and they are very well directed and informative and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us all. It certainly shows how much you know of your trade. I will be tuning in as much as possible. Thank You again Don.

This is absolutely the best video I have found to replace belts on my Troy Bilt Bronco, and I’ve wasted time looking at many of them. I wish I’d found yours first! You have great camera angles and describe everything step by step. Perfect. My only tiny comment concerns the need to check each pulley is functioning as it should. I imagine some sort of quick spin, listening for bad ball bearings might be in order. Awesome video. Well done

You're a braver man than me! I just replaced the drive belt on my Troy Bilt and realized why, last time, a shop charged me $150. A few years ago I purchased a lawn tractor lift; it was well worth the $79; probably $150 now under " Crooked Joe". BTW, there are two screws holding the "double pulley" to the mower side. I had to loosen them in order to get the belt over that side of the pulley. The screws are easily accessible and are behind the left rear wheel/tire.

Great video, thanks. Your were right on with the bottom drive belt being the hardest part of the job - 16:00 minute mark. I got it started, then took a thin piece of wood (a paint stir stick) then gently nudged it down with a small hammer as it was a witch turning the pulley by hand. The longer videos are fine, I appreciate the 'here's what may go wrong' parts too.

Nice repair. Like the longer videos. I skip over the short one. Nice to see you using anti seize. On new equipment with crank pulleys, blade hubs etc. I remove them and apply anti seize. My 20 year old craftsman push mower blade hub slides right off when I remove the blade for shaping. Same goes for my 2005 craftsman lawn tractor crank pulley. Anti seize works great on the rear wheel hubs to drive axles. The wheels slide right off.

Hi Don, great video! Length was perfect. I did this to my Troybilt a couple seasons ago using a video Taryl put out. In that video, he tipped the tractor over 45 degrees to the right and supported it on a stool or whatever, resting on the steering wheel. Sounds a little sketchy, but it was quite secure and no damage to the tractor. Just a thought if you don't have access to a lift like you have. Thanks again for your great videos!

Nice cardboard trick, it keeps you clean and helps you slide when under things. I hope that when you were using the torch under the mower you took away the cardboard that you were lying on. Bad things will happen in an instant when sparks hit the cardboard not leaving you enough time to get out.

I'm not concerned about the length of a video itself. It depends on the complexity of the job at hand. For this Drive Belt Replacement, the length seems warranted. If a video is a bit longer to cover possibilities that may or may not occur, such as the seized pulley, it's worth the time to include it. Shorter videos for simpler jobs are OK too.
