Fun translation facts! At around 1:46 or so, during the missile launching towers section, the sign on the left shop says "Food Poisoning Restaurant". Also, some of the graffiti on the walls before the helicopters say "Silly War" and "Terrible Soldiers", and my favorite of them all: At 3:11, the cloth banners on the top say: "Work makes me sick", "I have diarrhoea", and "I need medicine" respectively from top to bottom/front to back. God bless this game and whoever was doing the arabic text for that level!

There was a pizza parlor that had a this game and mortal kombat 3 and marvel vs capcom 2 when I was 8 with my brother and they also had big ass delicious pizza

Pizza Hut at the corner of Grand Ave and 16th Street West most memorably. Basically every Fuddruckers and Pizza Hut had one of these SNK multi-game cabinets. Also, movie theater lobbies. So. Many. Memories.

Ahh Metal Slug one of the most fun games I've ever played. I played this and Tekken in this arcade that turned into a inline skating ring. They kept this and Tekken then they put in X-Men. Fun times yo!

Of course they kept metal slug. Shit devoured quarters. Probably indirectly responsible for my parent's divorce when I was a kid. But I beat that shit like it was Rihanna and I was Chris Brown.

@@danskyl7279 The D button is used from Metal Slug 4 and on, serving as a self-destruction button. In previous MS, the self-destruction is activated by pressing button A and B at the same time. A is the fire button, while B is the jump one. Max was probably trying to jump while shooting, causing the Slug to accidentally self-destruct, lol

Honestly it's not THAT big of a deal. It's annoying for the DNA bridge in the final mission, and that's it. But I still prefer MS2 over MSX, in terms of level design.

i like how at the beginning, he basically stood still and took hits straight to the face, but as he keeps playing, he gets better and learns to dodge and crouch to some degree. i highly recommend playing metal slug 3 at some point is it's generally considered the "best one". it has the most content, variety and replay-ability

This version was my favorite. Played it in the arcade. I liked how each character had their own animation when reloading there base gun. I liked the slowmo style, you had some chance to dodge fire. It is possible to save as many prisoners and your slug once finishing mission 4. Without dieing once on a quarter. Mission 5, was pushing it, the slug might not make it but you could maybe. After that, you were going to die many times.

Metal Slug 2 has always had a framerate drop when too many sprites/projectiles are on the screen. The more sprites/projectiles at once, the slower the game runs. Not just emulated, but on the original arcade cabinet. This is why I always recommend Metal Slug 2 as a first Metal slug game to try.

Honestly, he actually has. He played 3 with a friend, and MS6 during Yo! Videogames let's play. I dunno if he actually forgot, or he just doing the "first player" experience for the viewers. But I recall his first play was MS3 with his friend and commented how the game was an arcade coin muncher.

I can understand about Max not really good at shmups. These games really needed persistence to get through of everything. I remembered playing Touhou and the one hit death didn't bother me as much before then now. Now that I'm used with games that have lifebars, I'm like f*** it at one-hit death, especially at Touhou which require a playthrough without continues to unlock their extra stages.

Metal Slug 2 was famous for being VERY slow in term of framerate. This is why Metal Slug X was released to fix the issue.

@@alexkeenan5201 The anthology collection on the wii got rid of the frame drops on all the games. The og arcade versions had the mentioned frame drops, specially 2, which is the laggiest of them all.

Metal slug 3 was my favorite out of all the metal slugs, especially the swamp and alien stage. Gettin abit triggered how he's skipping the freed prisoners but I understand that he's a beginner to this

It's always hard to keep the slugnoid alive in mission 2 especially when you're spamming or pressing shoot and jump button at the same time which triggers the self-destruct mode.

that mission helped train my fingers to stop firing before each jump. alternating between pressing B then A and C together to prevent the AB self destruct. i wish they would do another collection with all the games in the series and "remaster" it by just letting you map the self destruct to the D button like they did in later games. they don't need to change any art or anything, just fix the controls

Lore wise, if the slug is not gonna be used against boss battles better off self-destruct it. But yeah, including C button helps prevent self-destruct mode.

@@johnbas1564 it's mainly just to use up the cannon ammo as you don't really need to aim it and there's no use in saving them. after those are gone, i just alternate with a and b, and the burst fire from the gatling guns carry through the B button press and you just end up in a rhythm

Pressing the shoot and jump button at the same time will cause the vehicle to kamikaze which happened a lot when I first started playing the Metal Slug Series
