So worth it. I didn't know about the standard rate turns, the 1 minute and bank angle thing... now I haven't been dealing with flight simming in a long time but I do enjoy these videos a lot. I love aviation theory, especially navigation and procedures. really cool stuff well done

Dear doofer911 Very nice videos my friend and i'm really enjoying them but for today video i just wanted to mention something importantnt for you , i'm a real PPL pilot currently doing an ATPL While joing the holding pattern there are 3 sectors dependimg on your heading i will give you an example lets say you're flying a heading of 030 to VOR station and the holding pattern heading is 270 you can't just make a left turn on top of the VOR to turn to 270 there is somethimg called parallel entry and teardrop entry , in my country we even call it a racetrack . Just google it and it will show you exatly what i'm talking about otherwise it would take me alot of time to write it :) i hope it would help you in your future videos and keep up the good work !

Hey Cristiano, always great to hear from real pilots! :) Yeah I saw the 3 different approach sectors when I was researching for this video but as I said, I haven't quite figured out how to translate that into an easy to understand way but the next video will be talking about those different sectors.

Why would one use a parallel entry? Awesome videos by the way! I have learnt loads today! Thanks :D

It all depends on which direction you approach the Fix point from. I've done a video explaining the entries in detail if you're interested: Hold Pattern Entries: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lbCBedaVnMyyZZ8.html Entry Demonstration: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbyjpdRjptS1qXk.html

2:41 Hey! I know that bank gauge! That's from a Cessna 182 Skylane, and it looks like it's from Microsoft Flight Simulator 98.

Hello hello, another great video. I have a suggestion for you, so far we learned a lot about the aircraft and navigation from you and we appreciate that. Would you make a video about the runway when you taxi? like the signs and markings with different letters and numbers on the runway. Take care and we catch you later.

I always have trouble landing jets and turning with rudder. Do you have anything with that?

When flying holding patterns can you use the autopilot? I am guessing not to as you are using set procedures and timing of the legs. Also when instructed to leave the hold you have to turn to the track to your intended runway. Then you can set the AP. Any more information on this information???

What's your settings for FSX? What plugins or add-ons do you use? How is it all set up? FSX looks very good in your vids.

Can you say more about speed, I guess it's a factor to consider when making those turn, or is the atc will assign you one?
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 7 жыл бұрын
Holds will normally have a maximum speed limit, sometimes ATC will assign a speed and sometimes it may simply be down to the pilot's discretion.

Doofer911 usually the maximum speed when entering airspace is 250kts.

Doofer911 nice tutorial...Question? how do i left holding pattern for landing. please make that tutorial?
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 5 жыл бұрын
If you're going to be landing, you want to be entering a Circuit Pattern, not a Holding Pattern. I've done a video about circuits here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebKPhq9iqbree5s.html

How do you know wether you do a right hand holding pattern or a left hand holding pattern?
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 7 жыл бұрын
Normally it's a right hand pattern. Air Traffic Control will tell you what to do. You may also need to read a chart (which is kind of like an aviation map) and that might tell a pilot whether to fly a left or right pattern.

Yeah I'll be covering flight computers in the future once I've gained more experience flying jets. Can't give you a rough date yet but I intend on having one out before the end of the year. Flight Computers are complex tools so learning it to a level where I feel confident explaining how it works will take some time.
