Your review is one of the Much Better ones, thank you. A few questions if you might? What is Doogee's record of updates, how many years of support have or do they give? It looks like the Thermal camera is a fusion or mixed with the normal camera to create an interpolated higher actual pixel count than the thermal camera which I believe is around 350 x 250 pixels, other phones before the V20 did this, does that sound about right? Cheers

Thanks a lot! Someone in a previous video contacted Doogee and they said they'd provide at least 2 years of security updates but I can't say for sure if that's for every product or not. I know the T20 tablet I've been using keeps getting updates so far but I've only had that about 4 months or so. Regarding how the thermal camera works that's a good question and I'm not sure to be honest. As I said to another commenter - the pics are only 1.6MP so aren't the most detailed (even if the size of the image is 1440x1080)

Great video! Can the phone take a regular RGB photo at the same time it's taking a thermal photo? Flir cameras do this by default, I was wondering if the Doogee V20 Pro could do it too using one of the adjacent lenses to the thermal sensor.

Thanks a lot! I can't see a way of taking both at the same time - only PIP mode which has both in a single image. It is a cool idea though and wonder if the next iteration might have that feature...
@tomconnors8165
@tomconnors8165 8 ай бұрын
It can take 2 photos at the same time, sorta. It actually takes both every time, but I can't separate them yet, I just got the phone. The RGB camera adds shapes and definition missed by the thermal cam. You can blend the mix between the two, and have a choice of the RGB photo used just for the shapes or as a regular pic with thermal added. Best thing is after the photo is taken you can change the mix, colour pallet, temp targets etc. You could screen shot it at that point and have just the RGB, just the thermal or a blend. The viewing app for the thermal pics is more than just a gallery, you have lots of control as if you are taking the picture again. I wish I could substitute the IR night vision camera for the RGB camera.

@theirondragonsmachineshop7377

@@AndroidAddicts No, it's a setting that's in the regular screen settings for Android. It's there for my Blackview 6600 and my Motorola Moto G Pure, but it was not there for my Doogee s98 pro, and that was a big problem because the screen on the Doogee s98 was skewed towards the blue colors. A white page looked sky blue on that phone and it really upset my eyes. I sold that phone to a friend for cheap because I hated the colors being wrong so much. I would love to get the V20, but only if the colors are correct or can be set to the warmer yellower colors through the "color temperature" slider, if it exists for their version of Android.
@AndroidAddicts
@AndroidAddicts Жыл бұрын
Ah I see. Well There's a "Screen Color Mode" which lets you choose "Standard, Vivid or Cool Color". There's also a "Color correction" setting which lets you enable color correction for different Correction modes (Deuteranomoly (Red-green), Protanomaly (Red-green), Tritanomaly (Blue-yellow) or Greyscale. Sadly not slider though so those are either on or off

@neilruedlinger4851

@@enjoy8747 From a Physics or Thermodynamics point of view, the thermal image sensor should still pick up an animal or a human being because the LWIR (Long Wave Infra Red) radiation picked up by the thermal image sensor is optimized to detect biological thermal infra red signatures. Incidentally the technology behind the thermal imaging sensors was originally developed for military use, to selectively sense the LWIR thermal radiation wavelength range (8 to 13 microns) given off by human beings, for making it easier to find enemy targets in total darkness, which included implementation in sniper scopes. Since warm blooded animals have a similar LWIR thermal radiation range as human beings, these sensors are ideal for hunters who wanted thermal scopes on their hunting rifles. The detection range for humans or animals will be probably shorter than detecting hot house roofs at over a mile or 1.6 km away because human skin has a healthy or normal temperature range of 33.5 °C to 36.8 °C. The detection distance may depend on the ambient temperature, thus in winter the smartphone's sensor may be able to pick up an animal or a human from a longer distance, especially at night when the temperature is the coldest. The imaging sensor technology used in the DOOGEE V20, is in IMHO most probably a micro-bolometer array because this type has the widest thermal spectral response compared with other thermal sensor technologies, and would be most useful for remotely measuring the temperatures of a variety of objects. Smartphones with thermal image sensors are primarily designed for commercial or industrial applications. www.whoop.com/en-au/thelocker/what-is-skin-temperature-and-why-should-you-monitor-it/ harizanov.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Thermal-Infrared.jpg www.photonics.com/images/Web/Articles/2005/8/1/Optronics_Fig1.jpg

Install SwiftBackup from Google Play and open it Sign in with Google Grant Storage Permission Allow access to manage all files Press Back Click Apps (in SwiftBackup) Press icon in the top right (3 lines and an arrow) App backup settings Turn on Show system apps Find Camera in the list Press 3 dots and Backup / Restore Press + Backup And press + Backup again - it'll back up the existing Camera app as an APK locally Now try installing the apk I sent and say you want to 'update' the app. Open the Camera see if it fixes the problem When I first tried, I got a strange message overlayed on the screen but a reboot seemed to fix that Hope the helps out - if not then I'm really sorry - can't think of anything else to try apart from a hard factory reset.

Don't spend your money on this device, I'll give you the reasons why. 1 the front camera has excessively yellowish tones, the main rear camera even takes good photos, but when we zoom in on the photo the quality is the most horrible it can be, in night mode both the front and main cameras lose a lot of quality and They are very grainy, the device's screen, despite being AMOLED, is exaggeratedly saturated, the Radio application does not work correctly, the only update that Doogee has available, does not even correct any of these problems. I've had the device for 2 months and every day I like it less and feel robbed by the Brand. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS BRAND, AS THE DEVICES ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY THE BRAND CHARGES. Here is the advice given.

I've seen the cheaper Chinese phones improve a lot over the years and I believe we'll see more improvements as time goes on (such as OIS). Interestingly I'm starting to see some EIS modes being introduced (such as on the Doogee T30 Pro) so it is coming but we have to be a bit more patient for OIS I think
