Doom 3 + Sikkmod = EYEGASM!

Despite Doom 3 being nearly 10 years old, its incredible modding community has managed to take modern visual effects like motion blur, depth of field, SSAO, and even parallax occlusion mapping and integrate them into its engine. Entire packs of high-resolution textures have been made as well. When you slap those effects and textures together, you get a first-person shooter that holds up amazingly well today. Better yet, the mod adds brand new (optional) features like a helmet-mounted flashlight, health kits that can be collected and used later, and more!
In this video, I was using a combination of Sikkmod and Wulfen's high-resolution texture pack. You can download a two-in-one package here:

The Sikkmod visual effects demonstrated in this video are as follows:
- Bloom
- Depth of Field
- Motion Blur
- SSAO
- Lens Flares/Sun Shafts
- Parallax Mapping (w/ Offset Limiting)
My computer specs:

Can't believe I wasted money on the BFG Edition... such a sad excuse of a game. BUT thankfully I got the original Doom 3 again with Absolute HD Mod! :P

And the Lost Mission in BFG Edition was completely bland and felt like whoever made it put absolutely no effort into it. Original Doom 3 was much better and actually mod-able.

It's SO BLURRY! XD Looks amazing. Especially the sparks when you shoot the environment! O.O

motion blur and dof were fully on. You can modify or turn them off though

The helmet-mounted flashlight is completely optional and actually turned off by default, so if you want the sexiness without compromising the way Doom 3 plays, you can have it! :-)

I just realized that you can turn the flashlight on and off by clicking r/reload with this mod, I only test it in this mod idk if this work in vanilla doom 3

Can you help me out with depth of field? Your game looks great, but on mine anything on the left or right gets too broad. Maybe depth of field isn't the problem, but whatever it is it's annoying. I'm just in standard 1080p btw

The 1993 Doomguy was Flynn Taggart, but this doomguy is John McCallen. The original RIPS & TEARS!!!, & this one points & shoots.

HHEEEEEYYYYY I did not know that. But I sort of think the Duct tape mod is a bit pointless, because you still have to use the flashlight as well because the duct tape light is to small to be any other use then aming. Still nice to know you can turn it off. I still think the textures are too shiny though, there shouldn't be THAT much contrast.

You mean how to install it? It should come with a "sikkmod" folder, which you just stick in your Doom 3 installation directory. The next time you launch Doom 3 and go to Mods, Sikkmod will be available for you to choose.

Oh I've in no way migrated (the old Dooms are still the best for more reasons than I care to list here and I'll always play and mod them), but this is still a great game to go back and re-experience.

There is a little too much specular on some of the textures and some global illumination would be nice, either pre-computed or realtime.

Are you using an ATI/AMD card? If so, try renaming doom3.exe to doom 3.exe (with a space in between). From what I understand, the Catalyst A.I. is the culprit and when you rename the executable it fools it into not being able to detect the game. I had to do it because I was having a bunch of issues too.

Yeah, I can understand the BFG Edition on consoles because the only other console version was the one on the original Xbox which looked quite muddy and just wasn't the best way to experience Doom 3. The BFG Edition more or less allows console players to finally experience Doom 3 with "Ultra" settings like PC gamers did many years ago, so it's nice that they're able to revisit it. The PC release is quite pointless, however, as mods do almost everything it does (except better in most cases).

Well the BFG Edition deserves SOME kudos for ID Because ID combined the ID Tech 4 engine (Doom 3's engine) With ID Tech 5 (Rage's engine) but other then being able to use Oculus Rift & The Lost Mission, The BFG Edition was not needed

Darn duct tape mod: Ruined the whole atmousphere of the game (My opinion of course) & I'm not sure if my auto-sences need ejusting, but the textures of Sikkmod is a bit too...Shiny.
