they actually sound more like fire crackers when fired outside of a gun, cuz not all of the powder in the casing actually burns. Since less of it actually burns, theres less of an explosion.

not really, but there is a pistol that hypothetically could.... 12 gauge happens to be the same size as 50 BMG, and a 50 BMG pistol does exist (though I don't think it exists for practical military use, it's very existence is kind of impractical)
