I’ve been obsessed the last few years tracking down Dooney from the ‘90s when the quality was still there. The All Weather Leather USA made will always be their best. I grew up with these purses back then, and they will always be my favorite of any handbags ever made.

I agree. The stitching is an integral part of the bag, and on a drawstring it certainly disrupts the entire function in closing it and its entire concept.

I own 40 or mor Dooney and Bourke bags. I have never seen one look that bad. I love the Dooney I inherited when my mom passed away. All weather leather suede inside with the duck fob. I love Dooney.

What brand hand bag would you recommend in the $600 to $800 price range for a crossbody. I was looking into the Tory Burch Kira chevron bag but I have heard bad things on the wear and tear of their lamb skin leather.

Looks like they reversed stitch on that one part, instead of tying the threads inside the bag. You are so right in saying a lack of quality control. The lining was horrible, and they had a seam in the leather drawstring. I’m wondering if that’s why the bag won’t gather properly. Another Dooney disappointment. 😢

Omg yes! Their customer service has been shit lately. I ordered 3 purses and two of the three were damaged/defective. So embarrassing when the one I gifted my mom for Mother’s Day fell apart LITERALLY the strap came off like wft smh thanks for the video!

Wow . I can't believe the stiching . A newbie made that bag. I was just looking for the first time at a natural Bristol about a year ago and I'm not happy with it and is nothing I can do about it. I'm a little bit shot I just had never looked at it and I decided to and I was like oh man how did that bag pass inspection. When you pulled it and the string almost look like it was cut or something. I'm really surprised

I don't know why. But the stitching issues don't seem to be an isolated issue with Dooney & Bourke bags. I noticed that on a purse that was gifted to me as well. As well as on a crossbody camera bag I was eyeing to buy, but backed out of. Too sad.

I just bought from the new All Weather Leather. I just bought a new LV 30 speedy. I had to promise I would never buy another bag. Dooney will exchange it or give you your money back.

What about your interior logo? The stitching on mine is crooked and it bothers me even though the Florentine leather is beautiful. I found some minor stitching issues, too, on my new satchel, and it's a darned shame because the materials are good; it's the stitching that bother me.

One of my best scores ever! Had a pen mark on the green suede but I got most of it off. It’s the medium Florentine satchel but it wears like a large. Color is chocolate. It’s simply glorious! Also, the strap on my Florentine large zipper wristlet kept falling off, so I decided to keep it off. The zipper on my clutch wallet kept coming off as well. I contacted customer service to see if I could have my Hattie & the wallet repaired, since they were STILL under warranty (had them for only 5 months). The lady said yes, but it would still be a charge, she gave an estimate of $100 - $150 ☹️..... I really want that Pebble Grain drawstring in Spearmint & the wristlet, but I’m afraid of experiencing the same thing you’re experiencing 🤦🏽‍♀️

Couldnt find a gucci wallet either with out double stitching in the front of the wallet so I returned the bag too..nothing but crap now..you shouldn't have to examine a $900 wallet for stitching ..you have to inspect it from defects walk away and go bigger like Dior and Channel 👍

From a seamstress's perspective that bag is what you make out of leftover materials because you're determined not to throw anything away. I see some patching going on and the workmanship is amateurish to say the least. That bottom funny looking seam was hand stitched. I've never seen that in a Dooney but the question is how did it pass quality control?

At first I thought you were being too picky on the outside, because those are just backstitches to reinforce the stitch. Standard on any sewing machine. But the interior stitching in the bottom is definitely awful. The interior should have had a slip stitch, and those are definitely hard to do quickly. When I try to rush those, I definitely make it look wonky like the one on your bag

Why oh why people sent out items without checking thoroughly? The QC and logistics teams are just as crucial as sales members/client services - they make or break the brand! Poor you have to return the item; such waste of time, energy and resources. 🥺

They are heavy. High quality leather but too heavy. I washed them in my washer and air-dried. Came out of the washer like new. A 20 years old bag!

Dooney and Bourke's quality is not what it used to be back in the 80's and 90's. I definitely would return it.

I have been buying Coach & Dooney since the 1970s, HOWEVER now that they are both made in China, the quality is of course, not the same. Nor does Dooney give a BRASS duck logo. Coach & Dooney do NOT offer solid brass any longer either. For the money, these bags should be as good as they once were. I hung onto some vintage Dooney which WERE made in the USA. My first and second Coach bags were made in the USA too. I DID purchase a pair of Coach gloves that were made in France years ago. I have about 4-5 pair of Coach gloves. I have about 30 or so Coach & Dooney currently. But, I’m still disappointed in the quality of both companies. Unfortunately the ONLY Dooney outlet is in Connecticut. There’s a Coach outlet in Jackson, NJ, about a half hour from me. Not happy with their choices in general there. I bought my last Coach bag ( Jesse ) from the Coach website online and got a great price.

I just had a similar situation on 3 of 6 D&B buys, stitching was off, leather smelled weird and felt thin. Not sure why some are good, some are not but I'm tired of paying the $7.00 return fees.

Sigh. This makes me so depressed. I've been in love with D&B since back in the 90's when I got my first Norfolk bag. What drew me to D&B was the amazing quality and thoughtful designs. The quality started falling about 2010 and has gradually gotten worse over the years. Now it's like Walmart quality. It makes me so sad.

I thought dooneys quality was going up with the new line of pebble leather. The new dust bags and canvas lining. But that stitching is not right. Where is dooneys quality control.

I’m a year late but I can honestly tell you tonight after receiving four different bags they are all knock offs…. I am fuming….and all you have to do is look on the back of the zipper and it should have engraved lettering RIRI. The hardware from Dooney is not bright and shiny and all these bags are horribly made for dupes. The bag itself is you can feel is NOT leather. The scent of leather would immediately hit your nose as soon as it came out of the plastic and it did not. They are getting away with this and this is fraud the only people that wouldn’t know these are knockoffs are people that are not collectors of Dooney and/or real leather

It looks amateurish! This isn’t acceptable in any professionally made bag!!! The front part looks like they had to keep stitching more than normal, or just let it go on a few stitches too long? And the puckering is just how??! That material doesn’t even easily pucker. It’s really shoddy!

That bucket was clearly made incorrectly and you sir do not know how to pronounce the word ECRU correctly. How does that rule go: the first letter is a soft E when followed by two consonants not a hard E and I forgot how to spell the word consonant and had to spell check myself. OH Well......
