The two are extremely biased towards Matt (the older guy). Given the available public footage, I'd barely NOT suspend Matt, because there technically isn't beyond a reasonable doubt proof that he tapped him and popped him as Nick claims. If that's accurate tho, that's a strong case to give Crafton a 1 week break. My 2 cents.

Guys as a former NASCAR offical now retired I'll have to say that no one should be suspended. Now a fine would be in order but you'll have to decide who the aggressor was. They will have to be able to look at the footage and decide who was the primary aggressor was and go from there. I've been in those situations in the past. The very worst one thank God I was standing between the 2 individuals involved and I know exactly what transpired and I did absolutely nothing about it because I was right in the middle of it and heard and saw what happened. The first punch was actually a reach around me to land that punch. The only difference was one was an adult and one was a juvenile so we let the police take care of that. Oh and I forgot to say I am also a retired Deputy Sheriff of 32 years.

Do a quick search and see how many people have died from getting a cheap shot to the face and hit the back of their head on the pavement and never woke up. I know 2 people that this happened to. There's no room for stuff like this, not just in nascar, but anywhere. Like it or not, the difference between what happened here, and Crafton committing negligent homicide, is the way Sanchez hits the ground after being hit.

I think the only part of the age difference part that matters is Crafton doesn’t do that to a driver closer to his age. Like no shot he gets physical with Kyle Busch if they had a run in on the track.

If I am NASCAR, I would only suspend Crafton if there is video evidence of him waiting to punch Sanchez as well as confirmation of injury to Sanchez auch as the broken nose possibility. The waiting could be seen as a planned attack on Sanchez instead of a heat of the moment situation, which would make the whole situation look worse.
