Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's second episode 'Rastey Ka Kanta'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

+Ajinkya Mujumdar : A lot of them are/were popular regional actors, though unknown to Hindi audience. Chandu Parkhi (Prafull Rai) for instance, was a well known Marathi film and theatre actor.

May, 2018: I get goosebumps by the title music. I'm a 20 year old from Kashmir and I like Bengali culture( potrayed in this series) and how Bengalis are gifted with acting, directing and writing skills. Of course, this serial was always close to my heart as a kid. Now, I'm going through all the episodes once again. Byomkesh Bakshi, you freak, way way better than unrealistic CID.

Ajit babu was actually gay with byomkesh babu. They had intimate relationship. But since the relationship was not acceptable at that time Byomkesh married to satya. However love between them never died. I have also heard that they had threesome.

I am always amazed to see how such a great quality detective serial could be made from such a poor production values. Bengali producers/directors like Basu-dada and Satyajeet Ray (not linked to Byomkesh Bakshi) are the finest professionals on small screen or big screen. Just look at Thank you Bengal!!

I was in my high school when vyomkesh bakshi was telecasted in DD. I clearly remember this episode because I never believed that a murder was possible through a gramaphone pin.. Nice memories..

I have been watching this for ages and I love it each time. Nothing comes even close to this. Today's serials are totally crap. This is so natural and beautiful. If you want to relax, nothing better than watching this with tea and biscuits 😀.

Without Ajit babu episode mein mazaa hi nhi aata, Ajit babu k binaa episode akela akela or nirjaan sa lagta hai (jin episode pe woh nhi hai)....& the character Ajit is the soul of every episode after Byomkesh..!!👌👌

Sagar.. Ajit babu is actually gay with byomkesh babu. They had an intimate relationship. But since the relationship was not acceptable at that time so Byomkesh married satya. However love between them never died. I have also heard that they had threesome.

Yes that title track and all other background tracks are amazing. I remember that I had tried to record the track by holding the tape recorder near the TV as that was the only recorder we had.

Such good performers! It's like they're both living the characters. Rajit Kapoor is so on point. The mannerisms, the obnoxious yet genius hand movement, that goddamn winner smile. And the most freaking amazing part is, it's all 1 shot. Beautiful!
