This is a 2008 Doppelmayr UNI-G at the return terminal. Shown is the incoming side with the grip being detached from the haul rope, decelerated, turned around, and sent back out.

The accelerator/decelerator tires are driven by a system of pulleys and belts which is in turn driven by a PTO system driven by the haul rope. Some older lifts used chains, gears, and even drive shafts with U-Joints at each tire.

I once got to see one of these detachable lifts at Donner Summit in Calif. Talked the maintenance guy into the tower and showing me how they worked.

Singapore 🇸🇬 both Mount Faber and Sentosa Cable Car systems are using this Switzerland 🇨🇭 designs onto the Gondola Cabins grip system above.

This is why I want to be lift ops/maintenance to hear the noise of the engine and look at the system

Thank you for sharing this video and also other videos. Very interesting. One question...can you show the video how to open and close mobile jaw or fixed jaw or pivot axle?

Well, the A-108 would be more comparable to either the DT-108 or the older DS-108 or DS-208; the last digit (at least with Doppelmayr stuff) indicates the maximum sized carrier the grips is designed to carry. They also make an A-104, but I digress. A spring grip like an Agamatic or Poma product is in the "closed" position until opened by the open/close rail. These grips will cycle four times in one revolution. A double-position grip like the DS and the DT lock open going through the terminal and close just before they exit back onto the rope. They cycle twice per revolution. Less cycles=longer service life (in theory). The carriers on this lift are the 6E98 (6-pack chair) and the CWA Omega IV LWI (gondola cabins). Hope this helps!

You can only measure grip force on the outgoing side with a double-position grip. Not good when you send passengers out of the terminal and there is a grip-force fault.

@@a70duster There are two little red control levers that check if the detaching lever is in another position than in the closed position. If this is the case, one of them is operated and the whole ropeway stops emediately. So the system is absolutely safe, trust me. 😉

I get that there is added safety. It's a pain in the arse with a grip force fault and the carrier has left the terminal.

Is it ok if I use some of the audio in the video for my Roblox game when the lift enters the station?

Are these regular car tyres?

I wanna know how they guarantee each chair correctly clamps back onto the cable.

basically there's a metal plate with a hole of the size of the grip roller, if the vehicle isn't safely attached a sensor will be triggered and the machine will automatically apply the emergency brakes

Is this a relatively new Doppelmayr? I'm pretty sure it is because of the grip lever that points away from the cable. Otherwise, great video!
@npljojo2 жыл бұрын
The Doppelmayr DT grip's lever also points away from the cable and this grip already exists since 1994. 😉

Now show the hamster wheel that powers the wayback lift at keystone. 😭😭

how are the terminal drive wheels driven (not sure what the exact term for them is, ive only worked on riblets so far) is it a chain drive or gear drive or something else?
@npljojo2 жыл бұрын
All those tires are powered by rubber bands at Doppelmayr ropeways.
@caiwilkie64532 жыл бұрын
The wheels are all connected via a series of belts, the main power is taken from the cable, the movement is transferred using the cable support wheels then threw more belts.

wheelbarrows suck! waggons are better but the wheels are smaller. no wonder wheelbarrows are still around. they are only bought for the wheels
