Once in a while someone comes along who has a natural talent they never knew they had until they are convinced to try something new. My stepdaughter was the same way. She was terrified of guns and wanted nothing to do with them until I convinced her to go to the range with me. She was a natural and there was no firearm I handed her she wasn't naturally proficient with and quite frankly is was a little scary for me. It was like she had been shooting firearms for years.

The trigger discipline, slapping that mag into the well and releasing the slide, releasing the safety and racking the bolt on that AK-103, she did it all like she's done it a thousand times before... There's like a 5% chance she's never shot a gun before this. If she falls in that 5%, she's a natural and is a pure bad-ass. Her stance with the Ruger isn't the best and she's shooting with both eyes, but that's pretty secondary compared to how she handled herself elsewise. It's what I would do if I told someone I had never shot before and wanted to drop their jaw.

She’s a natural 😂 when I started teaching my daughter, I was surprised by how quickly she exceeded my skill level. My vision is terrible, that probably makes a big difference.

That, and oftentimes people who've had no prior experience excel because they haven't learned bad habits that get in their way. You're right about the vision thing also. Imagine my surprise when my ex, (who was an artist so hand eye coordination was already at a high level, had better than 20-15 vision compared to me who's been wearing glasses since grammar school) shot my SIG 45 better than I could shoot her SIG 9mm. We traded guns and never spoke of it again.

I took my close friend for her first time shooting, never shot before bot wasn't scared to try. Did the basic gun safety routine and let her pick a gun she wanted to try. Picks out a Ruger 357 K-frame. I said she could pick, so,... Never shot before, kept it on the paper at 15 yards, with a revolver of all things. She was even better with a rifle and has been hooked ever since
