Clint Eastwood presents the Cecil B. DeMille Award to Doris Day. Clint Eastwood describes her as a remarkable woman who puts her heart and soul in everything she does, whether it is singing, acting, or the incredible devotion she has for the well being of animals. She has always been the girl every man wanted to marry and the woman every girl wish she could be. Doris Day accepts the Cecil B. DeMille Award and explains how she doesn't do this anymore because she lives in the country, but needs to come to town more often. She thanks Clint Eastwood and says that she is in awe with all of the talent in the room.

I don't even know how to express my sadness at her dying. She was my life as a child. That's all I say. She was a respectful, sweet, powerful, considerate person who gave her life for just causes. I love her. I fell in love with her when I was 4 years old and I will never not love her. Be well, angel.

There'll never be another Doris Day. Talented, beautiful, stylish and a heart of pure gold. Her passing a few days ago has left me deeply saddened as if I've lost a dear friend. I also feel kind of angry that her enormous talent and longevity in show business was never acknowledged with an Academy Award. Rest in paradise, beautiful lady. 💖

Her fans definitely understand it, though!! She is a class act, and a truly lovely person, inside and out. As for the women - Betty Davis, Greer Garson, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell. Thank heaven they are on film so we can see them forever. I know Doris Day is still with us - love her, too! I remember gossips rags calling Doris a recluse long before she appeared here to be honoured in 1989. Doris has lived in beautiful Carmel CA for many years now and keeps in regular contact with friends like Angie Dickinson James Garner (prior to his passing) Tony Bennett and many others. Doris is obviously happy and healthy at 90 plus doing what makes her very happy with her 'four-leggers' and fund raising for her many charities named for her.

Doris Day is such a talented entertainer. Her voice is one of a kind, and she was one of the best comedic actresses in her time. Her movies were fun, charming, full of laughs, and always made you feel good inside. I have such great respect for her Animal League and the work she does on the behalf of animals and the awareness she has brought to their needs. Her just released CD, "My Heart" is wonderful -- listen to her version of Bruce Johnston's "Disney Girls". It doesn't get much better.

She looks so beautiful and I am proud to have donated to her foudnation to help animals and she sent me an 8x10 autographed photograph. Clint was so amazing in introducing her. I bet it would have been a great film if they had worked together. She has always been such a dignified Lady on screen and in real life. a living legend. I miss seeing her on TV or in movies. They dont make them like her anymore. God Bless You Miss Doris Day!

You know a star is special when just about everyone is reaching for descriptives like "classy" and "elegant" to describe her... Day is one of those evergreen performers who were so good and made it all look so easy that you almost took them for granted. What a shame that the industry she helped build didn't seem to know what to do with her in the 1980s and '90s. And I would LOVE to have seen her and Clint together in a movie--that would have been one of a kind casting...

Good Lord, how on earth can she possibly be 67 years old and look as if she is STILL in her 30's? She is stunningly beautiful here AND exudes a very warm femininity in her appearance and her voice; she most definitely 'had it all' and I doubt her kind will be equaled again.
