Dorje Drolo: A Wrathful Padmasambhava

Dorje Drolo is the name given to a descriptive appearance of Padmasambhava based on an event occurring during his life. All Eight Manifestations of Padmasambhava are related to the life story and specific events narrated in chronological order. For this reason, images of Dorje Drolo and the other seven manifestations along with the main form are commonly grouped as sets of paintings or sculptures, numbering nine in total.

The translation of 'phurba' as a 'peg' or a 'tent peg' (coming from the doubtful idea that the phurba originated from nomad tent pegs), I don't think gets as close to its use as perhaps the words 'nail' or 'stake'.....'nail' being a common translation from the Tibetan. This makes sense as 'kila' can be translated from Sanskrit as 'pin' or 'nail'. A nail pins down, and can also liberate through killing just as the phurba may, at times, as evinced by some Vajrakilaya (Dorje Phurba) practices. But Jeff, as to a 'clothes line peg' - you are so way off! I suspect that you have not hung out much washing as I can see no similarity between a phurba and a sprung clothes peg or the old fashioned 'gipsy' peg on a washing line!!! BUT great videos as always (-:

What you are explaining is all Tibetan Lamaism of myths that have dakinis, deities, spirits, reincarnations and also practices ritualistic religions. Buddhism is based on truth and simplicity of life in the present time.
