Hi Jean, the smaller buttons 1- 1.5 inch work the best. This big one was more difficult and I thought I would never finish filling it in .

I made these years ago but making the central hub was never too neat. Im making some more now and following your tutorial to see if age has improved my work lol I find it very relaxing. Tku

Glad I could help! I struggle with the center hub getting pulled off center, too. I've found that if I hold the center pinched together with my fingers while I secure it, it helps.

HEY KATRINA! THANK YOU FOR THE HISTORY LESSON AND TUTORIAL! I AM DEFINITELY GONNA MAKE THIS! I LIKE IT A LOT AND SPEAKING OF BUTTONS, I RECEIVED MY BUTTON FROM KNITCRATE AND ITS EXACTLY LIKE URS. OH AND YOUR RINGS ARE QUITE GORGEOUS!!!!
@katrinascreationscrafting
@katrinascreationscrafting 4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you got your button. I'm turning mine into a pin. My rings are a mix match. The center stone is my original engagement ring. The 5 smaller stones Dave gave me for a 5 year anniversary, and the larger 5 for our 10 year. LOL We've been married for 38 years, if I continued stacking them up for every 5 years I'd need extra fingers. Anyway, the original setting was gold and after 35 years it was badly cracked and I was afraid I would lose some of the stones. So, my brother makes jewelry on the side (Aldrich Custom Crafts) and he re-set it for me in silver.

Dear Katrina, thanks for this. Thanks for the history at the beginning, lots of research there! The finger demo was particularly good and made it clear. is there anything I should know to make the finishing off neat? How do you incorporate the original thread tail from the start. Thanks for any extra info. Regards, Peter from Paris France.
@katrinascreationscrafting
@katrinascreationscrafting 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, thank you for watching. I wove my ends in using a embroidery needle. With smaller rings the woven portion is sturdy enough to use as a regular button. The big one that I used for the demonstration needs some kind of backing applied to make it sturdy enough to support a pin.

I tied it on loosely and then catch it several times in the next few stiches so it kind of get woven in.

I can’t seem to get my hub in the centre! Any suggestions? Ty Hugs. Maggie. ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️
@katrinascreationscrafting
@katrinascreationscrafting 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maggie. That is the hard part. I found that if I pinched the center together with 2 fingers and held it in the center of the circle while I sewed it into place, it helped. The stitches filling in around the spokes also helps to pull it into place.
