Dosing All for Reef in a Pico and the results

Over the last few weeks, Alkalinity in the pico has been 6.5 dkh, a little too low for my liking and corals were not looking good. After looking around, I found All for Reef by Tropic Marine and I started using a diluted amount in the pico reef. It was recommended that 0.5ml of All for Reef should be dosed per day, I diluted this with RODI water at a ratio of 0.5ml of all for reef to 4ml of Rodi water, giving me 2ml of solution per dose.
After 4 days, Alkalinity seems to be ok and between 7 and 8 dkh with 10% water changes. Maybe a little OTT but I had everything spare to set up a single channel WIFI doser to deliver 2 ml a day.
Water changes were not delivering the results I wanted.
With such sensitive small volume of water, what benefits can there be? Well, this is the first video of my exploits so keep following for updates.

I’m in the military so I had to leave it for a month. I bought a auto top of which kept it stable. I came back though had a little hair algae because the guy that helped feed it was afraid to do the water changes. It’s ok though I came back did a 100% water change which was easy and I will keep doing it for a bit to bring phosphates down but over all I do the same things you do and dose all for reef. I had some of my zoas multiply and my green star polyp is glued to the back of the tank as well. Can’t wait for it to spread!!!

Ahh nice, great stuff being in the military. Great idea with the ATO btw, life saver. I do mine manually with marks on the back chamber. Someone suggested 20% waterchanges to avoid shock to the system. Started doing them weekly but its what works for your style of reefing. All for Reef seems to be the lick for the pico, easy to dose and corals seem to benefit. Waterchanges will help with iodine levels too. Oh snap, got some zoas today and yeah when the GSP spreads i think makes a tank look cool with all the movement 😎.

Love the video and tips, thank you, I do have a question regarding dosing. I have a 10 gallon mix reef, I have been manually dosing and want to dose with a doser, i test and my ALK 7.2 , CA 450 and MG 1250. I would like to maintain an ALK of 8.2 , how do I calculate how much to dose daily. Sorry for the long comment

Hi @G-Reef how much are you dosing manually? The way I understood it is, if you increase your dosing everything increases. TM sell other specific products to target Alkalinity. This is the dosing calculator I used, hope this helps 😊 www.tropic-marin-smartinfo.com/en/minerals/all-for-reef.html

Hey great video. Does the product actually raise parameters or just keep it stable. The lady at the shop said whatever my prams are now will stay the same when using this. U was hoping it would raise my prams a little
@hcaquaticsreefing
@hcaquaticsreefing 3 жыл бұрын
@Travel With Me. From what i have noticed, it did raise my Dkh especially, and mag and calcium did get a boost. The size of tank and testing will generally tell you how much you will need to dose daily to keep you tank stable. This is a tiny tank and i am between 9.2 to 9.7 dkh when i tested on yesterday. 👍

@@hcaquaticsreefing Thanks buddy. My dkh is sitting at 7. Cal is 410 and mag is 1260. I was thinking I might have to dose to get the prams correct and then use this product after to maintain. @hcaquaticsreefing
@hcaquaticsreefing 3 жыл бұрын
@Travel With Me, no problem. Those results are actually alright maybe Mag closer to 1300s but if the corals are doing well and you're stable, that's great. When you start dosing where ever you're aiming for give yourself leeway either side of that number. Say 10 either side for a decent range. Check out this video on chasing numbers. Except for Alkalinity i would say 0.5 dkh swing max kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mcqclbep3r_LZWg.html

You should be able to get the parameters you want with more frequent 100% water changes. Easier than dosing / testing. Even if once a week is not enough, two 100% water changes will be faster and easier. I ran a 2 gallon pico for more than 7 years, tried dosing for a while but realized it was a waste of time. Even in my 10 gallon nano now if there is an issue I'll change 100% of the water with water from another tank that does get frequent testing faster then I can test all the parameters in the nano.

@Brandon Lyautey, I believe it's 5ml per 100 litres a day, so you may look to start off at half 😉 2.5ml. Your system is 52 litres, correct? I usually start lower than calculated when starting new dosing products, so rather than 2.5ml per day, I would start at 1.5ml. Then, I would test my alkalinity to confirm whether it increased or it was still dropping. If it was still dropping, I then increased my dosing amount and kept testing until I was satisfied that was stable above 7 dkh as recommended 👌 Hope this helps 😊
