I've been dosing 2 part for years but finally got to the point where my dosing amount was so much that I decided to jump over to a Cal Reactor, and man am I glad I did. I was so scared to do the jump but the switch was easy as butter and its been running so smooth. I run it in with a Hydros and Alkatronic using the Hydros to control the pH in the reactor with a feedback from my Alkatronic. Hydros has an automated mode where it will take the Alkatronic's alkalinity reading and automatically control the reactors pH based on that feedback. It's been holding my Alkalinity within +-0.2 constantly. Its awesome.

With all the problems I had with my neptune DOS had after the 1 year warranty expired, dosing sucked for me and was anything but reliable. I upgraded to a Lifereef calcium reactor with a CO2 controller and it has been super stable. It really is set it and forget it. Had rock solid alkalinity numbers for about a year since I went to this calcium reactor. I use a Kaomer peralistic pump to control the "dose" of effluent rather than adjusting the ph in the reactor. I set the controller to 6.5 and then just change the kaomer dosing if I need more or less....have not adjusted it in weeks! Funny thing is that my ph numbers in the tank are still 8.4! Of course the sump is in the garage and I am not dosing tons to the tank yet.
