This is one of my favorite plays, I call it DOTs Vader! It's a bit different than the deep ball plays, but it's very fun. I try to explain it and show some different variations. The key is timing. Let me know what you think and post your favorite plays!
DOTs Vader Play detailed
WR1 - Matched with the safety. Safety will either play inside or outside. If 1-on-1 throw to the open space (inside or outside). The LB may shift to create double coverage, making the throw more difficult. If the LB shift , this will typically open passing lanes for WR2.
TE - Slant/Seam - Matched 1-on-1 and should get separation for easy throws and RACs. LB may shift for double coverage
WR2 - LEFT fade route. Should be 1-on-1. EXCELLENT PASS FOR CLUTCH MOMENTS. Great for later rounds when WR1 and WR2 are double covered.
Key notes
The 3 main routes need timing and velocity. Try and overthrow the receivers to get over-the-shoulder catches and RACs.
NOTE:
This play is not really designed to get players open. Mostly just 1-on-1 in and/or in open space.
