Dotted notes can cause confusion if you're not familiar with them.
This video will help visualise how adding a dot extends a note's duration.
The exercises contain dotted half notes, dotted quarter notes, dotted eighth notes, and all the associated dotted rests.
Change the playback speed if you need to go slower or faster.

I'm so glad I found this lesson! I think the only way to understand dotted notation is through examples and not theory. Thank you for showing this demonstration along with the '1 e + a...' (etc) written above. This helped me understand the downbeats and rhythm and kept me on time. Thanks again!

Man this lesson was right on time for me. I was trying to figure this out last night and had problems with some sheet music I have. What a great breakdown and understanding that you put together. I recently subscribed and I'm glad I did. It's all good every bit of it
