As Flashpoint celebrates it's 10th Anniversary with an Omnibus, I take a look at it, along side the recently announced Flash By Geoff Johns Omnibus Volume 3, from DC Comics! What's included in both of these books? What issues overlap and will have you double dipping? Do you need to buy both of them? Do you need to buy any of them?

This "double dip or skip" is a great segment. Like, actually very useful for us because I HATE double dipping. Like, i dont even double dip into ketchup or any other sauces, let alone comic books lol

I hate getting collections that have 1 or 2 new issues with the rest being stuff i already have. Also another bugbear is skipping important issues. I am a red ketchup man myself but partial to barbecue. People who eat brown sauce are evil😂😋

I got this very question in the q and a and I said simply no. You don´t have to pick up the Flash omnibus volume 3. Almost all of the material in the Flash vol 3 omnibus is collected spreadout through all of the events omnibus, where you will get a better experience overall how they tie-in to the bigger picture. There´s no right or wrong, just my reasoning.

Flash by Geoff Johns vol. 3 is a must own. It is the best Flash stories out there. It is perfect Flash. I just love those issues.

Good choice for a video. I was wondering about the overlap between these two volumes and if the double dipping would be expensive. I ultimately decided to get both. I've never read the Flashpoint tie ins so it's worth it for me. Plus the dust jacket and cover art is pretty appealing.

Excellent segment. It's great to have a voice addressing the "double dip" issue with collecting. Sometimes the internet and youtube creators over-recommend multiple formats which seems a tad irresponsible. Comics are expensive as-is so it's important to get your money's worth and not pay for the same content multiple times. I'll personally be satisfied with only the 3 Johns' Flash Omnibuses. Sidenote: I'd love to be a fly on the wall at collected edition departments when they map these books.

Good vid. I’m just getting the John’s volume 3 and passing on the flashpoint omni. I actually decided to pass on it before John’s v3 was announced bc the tie ins aren’t needed or that good except Batman. Also thanks for the info on the Batman by Azzerrello

Great video. I have volumes 1 and 2 and already have Flashpoint omnibus. Now I am questioning whether or not to pick up vol 3. Wish I would have seen this video before picking up Flashpoint.

Hi Marcus, I love this segment, it really helps. I have Green Lantern omni’s by Johns, and Blackest night omni. I have the Flash omni’s by Johns too. So I’ll be getting the Johns flash vol 3 omni. I have the flashpoint omni already. I haven’t read any of these yet either. I’m really excited to read these. Thanks Marcus WOOF WOOF 😊

Thanks for the video! I’ll be passing on both since I’ve already got BN and FC event Omni’s and the FP dlx Ed, and didn’t really care for Barry coming back, so those Wally centric Omni’s are enough

Great video! I'll personally buy the Flash omnibus and skip the Flashpoint one. I'll also buy the Batman and Superman Flashpoint TPBs, they include tie-ins I remember loving.

I'm buying the Flashpoint Omnibus. I don't have and don't want the Geoff Johns omnibuses, so it was an easy decision for me. My comic reading started with the New 52, and Flashpoint holds a special place for me as the first series I went back and bought in collected editions to read at the time.

I have been reading flashpoint this week(the paperback version thats the main event only) and i am kinda enjoying it. Although i have found the pacing is too fast and feel like I am missing out on important details. Maybe I should get the tie ins or upgrade my version. Edit Thanks for recommending batman by azarello for the thomas wayne issues. Those are the tie ins i definitely want. I didn't know that book collected them. I probably will pick that up for my batman collection. This omnibus may double dip but i can see it selling out in a flash.🙃

I think I’m going to hold off and wait for the John’s Vol. 3 omnibus. I did really want the Flashpoint book. But I am kinda turned off by the fact the issues are collected in Flashpoint in release order. So it looks my shelf will just have Flash Vol. 3 and the New 52 omnibus. ✌🏻

I'm posting this comment before I watch the video to see if my opinion changes. I currently feel I would buy Vol 3 as I have just sold off the FP absolute and I have no real interest in the flashpoint tie ins outside of the batman stuff. ok lets see. edit: Ok my opinion hasn't changed but I might pickup that batman deluxe. Great video, thanks for doing this.

Sorry Marcus, as someone who only read the main Flashpoint event I am confused. The Flashpoint omni contains issues #9-12 of Flash, so I'd be keen on the previous issues #1-8 to complete that run. Are those by Geoff Johns and contained in the Flash omni vol 3 or are they by Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul as you seem to suggest at the end of the video? Thanks mate!

I haven’t read any of Flashpoint, but your take on the omnibus is exactly the reason I ultimately decided not to buy it. When it comes to events, I need a strong incentive to go in for a collection with all the tie-ins. I just didn’t feel like it was there in this case. Excited to get Flash volume 3 instead.

Good video. I already have the Flashpint omni, and having read the first third of it, I'm generally enjoying it quite a bit. I think it's actually better than I remembered. I have the first 2 Johns Flash omnis but, unless I see a cheap copy somewhere, I'll likely skip Volume 3; I have most of the original issues and I just like his Wally West better than his Barry Allen. Just got the Flashpoint omnibus and was wondering if the order of the issues in the omni are good as they are, or if I should jump around between issues. What reading order would you recommend?

I got the flashpoint omnibus purely because I enjoy having the entire run, with all the tie ins, in one collection. I've got the absolute edition which is just the flash, obviously, but having the entire collection in 1 book was really appealing to me. Also, when is Vol 3 of Geoff John's Flash supposed to come out?

Could you make one with Venomnibus by Dony Cates, King in BLack and Absolut Carnage? According to the solicitation, the venom omni contains the two miniseries for both events. I am wondering how mush more i will get from buying all three. Have any of you read KIM and AC and does the miniseries make sense without all the tightins?

Now if they would just release a set of Flash By Mark Freaking Waid omnibuses then my collection can be complete! 😁 Hopefully with Dan DiDio gone from DC they will do that now, since they seem to be printing other new stuff by Waid lately like JLA Tower of Babel. Fingers crossed!

I'd be interested in a video comparing the Flashpoint omnibus to a House of M omnibus if it exists. The events are similar in nature and fallout and I found the tie ins interesting because they tried to build this world that would be out of continuity in no time. Which event and tie ins did you like more?

Surely it makes more sense to skip Vol 3 rather than the Flashpoint omnibus. The Flashpoint omnibus will contain new content for most people. The Flash Volume 3 has material already collected in other omnibuses e.g. final crisis omnibus which we all probably have.

I'll be passing on Volume 3 of the flash as I've already got Flashpoint on the way and the rebirth Flash really left me cold. Barry Allen should have stayed dead, but no, zombies gonna want to walk the earth, damn zombies!!

This is so frustrating, I love Rebirth by Geoff Johns and the entire Barry Allen 12 issue run, and this vol. 3 sounds perfect for me. BUT dang dc HAD to call it VOL. 3 to force us into getting vol. 1 and 2 instead of just calling it The Flash Barry allen or The Flash Rebirth omnibus. SIGH

The mapping of flashpoint omnibus was so horrendous. I swear a muppet decided to do this mapping without ever reading it before lol I was going to get it but just can’t. I’ll keep my absolute and tpb and get the Geoff Johns Omni vol 3 tho

Why would I be upset about a third volume for the Geoff Johns run? They had three Omnibuses before, so it makes sense they would have three now. EDIT: Oh, odd, it's a different Volume 3, oooooooookay... Anyway, the Flashpoint Omnibus is an utter trainwreck. They don't have the stories in a proper order, they're all over the place. They should have followed the X-Men Inferno Omnibus layout and had the main story first and then the substories second with each part back to back instead of that mess they made.
